Update - Karnten Therme responded to my review asking to email them the details. So I did and to my surprise the email went to Manfred Hübel which to the same person I spoke with about the issues before.
Manfred Hübel. I remember when I brought up the problems he was raising his voice speaking over me cutting me off and escalating the tension. very unprofessional and disrespectful. I felt like he was going to snap and hit me. They have cameras everywhere so that would be a huge mistake. I don’t know how someone like that can be running a place like this. His attitude and lack of people skills is the problem here and it transfers to other staff at Karnten Therme. Definitely not the right man for the job. On top of that they want you to pay high entry fees and then trat you like cattle.
Of course he never responded to my email. No apology, no remorse. Not that I was expecting any…
Original review- Absolutely incompetent lifeguards with a very bad attitude. They expect you watch your own kids and they are just there for show. Maybe to satisfy government regulations but that’s all. Also when we were there, the outdoors kids area was closed and some signals on slides were not working. We’ve been going there the last few years and never had such a bad experience like now. Place was busy and it felt like the staff just don’t...
Read moreIt's fine. It's not really very thermal. To be fair, we only booked fun park tickets but still expected a bit more. We've done quite a few thermal aqua parks on past holidays and this has been the least of them. The toboggans are fun, the wild river is fun but really short, there's a good sports pool, our kids stayed entertained for hours and the age limits are good for kids. The water is clean. But the waters weren't that warm, really, tepid at best, and no whirlpools or jacuzzis or mineral water or hot water soaking tubs are available. The massage cave had only six jets so you have to get in thirty minutes before they turn on to secure one and just wait. The bubble racks are fine but only turn on once an hour for only a few minutes. Maybe all the good thermal stuff is locked behind the spa ticket, I don't know, because information about all of this wasn't immediately available or terribly obvious. We didn't even know to look for it. The wife and I were really looking forward to a good soak after several days of hiking. We were underwhelmed because our expectations are higher. If we're ever in the area again, I can't say we'd be terribly...
Read moreSo, there are two sides to the same coin in this case.. If you don't live in Villach and you're here on holiday the Karnten Therme seems quite interesting. The facilities are modern, always clean and the staff are friendly, always eager to help with a smile. I would recommend it for a couple of days of fun, especially if you have children. There are rare occasions where you may have to wait to access the facilities (if it's fully booked) but I don't think it should be problem. Bear in mind that you will spend some money.. However, if you are a local and you're interested in swimming regularly, the place feels like a goldmine. The monthly subscription is sky-high and parking is not included. In my opinion, this is the equivalent of the resort telling locals "you're not welcome here". The issue becomes more pronounced given that Klagenfurt currently lacks a swimming pool and Spittal is relatively far away. I do understand that this is a "resort", not just a swimming pool, but it wouldn't hurt to show a little love for...
