Wenn man ins öffentliche Strandbad geht, erwartet man klassisch: Pommes, Würstel & Fritteuse – und ja, das gibt’s hier natürlich auch und das ist völlig in Ordnung, so muss Strandbad sein. Aber die Beach Area 61 in Drobollach kann viel mehr: Der frische Salat mit Burrata ist ein Traum – cremig, zart und so fein angerichtet, dass man kurz vergisst, dass man eigentlich in einem Strandbad sitzt. Die Riesen-Garnelen? Fast kleine Hummer, gebettet in einer sensationellen Öl-Knoblauch-Zitronen-Sauce, dazu frisches Knoblauchbrot, das man am liebsten stapelweise mitnehmen würde. Und als Finale: Sorbet und affogato al caffé, so cremig, dass man glaubt man sitzt in einer hippen Großstadt-Bar. Fazit: Hier gibt’s die perfekte Kombi – Strandbad-Klassiker für den schnellen Hunger UND kulinarische Highlights, die locker mit gehobenen Restaurants mithalten. Wir waren so positiv überrascht, dass wir direkt nach dem Essen diese Rezension verfassen mussten – und das machen wir sonst wirklich selten. Hier passt einfach alles: das Ambiente, die Qualität und die Liebe, mit der die Gastronomie hier geführt wird.

We were looking for some place that offered something vegetarian and were pleasantly surprised. For a beach bistro, they have a few lovely items on the menu that also taste good. The prices are reasonable, given the location and the man serving us was very friendly and kept entertaining the kids and cracking jokes. You also have a nice view of the beach and lake from the terrace.

One of the very few ( if not the only) place where you can access the Faaker See without any entrance fee. Only the parking place is 1€ per hour or 5€ for whole day and free after 18:00 where you still have enough time to swim in the lake during sunset ( the water is not that cold, so it is totally doable) plus the bonus are these cute ducklings wandering around the area.:)

We were looking for some place that offered something vegetarian and were pleasantly surprised. For a beach bistro, they have a few lovely items on the menu that also taste good. The prices are reasonable, given the location and the man serving us was very friendly and kept entertaining the kids and cracking jokes. You also have a nice view of the beach and lake from the terrace.

One of the very few ( if not the only) place where you can access the Faaker See without any entrance fee. Only the parking place is 1€ per hour or 5€ for whole day and free after 18:00 where you still have enough time to swim in the lake during sunset ( the water is not that cold, so it is totally doable) plus the bonus are these cute ducklings wandering around the area.:)

The beach is free, thought the parking needs to be paid (we came always by foot so I can't say anything about the parking). The beach itself has enough space and was not very crowded even on the weekends (given the proximity to Villach). Good entrance to the water, separated non-swimmer area perfect for kids, change cabins, toilets, a big slide and a small playground. A cafe with basic food and ice cream is also there. Great place for both Quick swimwear and day spend by the lake, the entrance is free, there are couple options to park nearby with different price range but nothing too expensive. The place itself is great, there is a whole infrastructure, there are toilets etc. , however, since it is well equipped free beach, there is a lot of people and kids. The best thing about this beach is the absolutely stunning view at the moutains, really...
