I want to complain about the worst travel experience in my life, and the problem is that I was traveling with my family and kids.

I booked a flight from Riyadh to Baku, 5OR0PS The website for Azrbigan states that if you have saudi iqama with valid return flight and hotel booking you will get the visa for less than 30 days. The employees in Riyadh airport saw our documents and cleared us to travel attached screenshot from their required criteria I arrived to Baku Airport where my worst travel experience began, the employee told me I have to had a saudi with me to travel present to customs with him so that they give you the visa, they refused to give me a visa and took our passports and left us in one place for along time as if we were criminals and transferred us to another place with no place to find food for our 10 month kid, making me feed her plain bread, we stayed since our arrival at 11 am till 5 pm without any one telling us when we will travel or what are the time of our flights as if we were criminals telling them minimal information and they escorted us to the gate where they deported us back to dubai without giving us our passports back I even tried to make them fly us to anyplace to save the vacation but they refused to even listen to me. When we arrived to dubai they took us back to an office where they told us that our flight was canceled and I will have to pay again for our flight from Baku to Riyadh in order to let us go. Because all what I needed is to go back with my family home I was forced to pay 1900$ which is larger that the total cost of my flight just to catch the flight after one hour We flew home just to find the same girl who boarded us a day before asking why they deported you and showed her manager all the documents I have and that I have all the right to travel. I am a doctor and this is not my first time to travel, we travel all over the world and never saw this treatment with no cooperation from either the airline or the airport. What did I do that make us have someone to escort me and my family holding our passports like we are criminals like this with all the passengers looking at us, we waited for ling hours with our kid and baby constantly crying and my kid reached the limit of saying I don’t want to ride an airplane anymore.

I want to ask is this is an acceptable experience to have??

I passed through two airports Riyadh and Dubai with their employees telling me my papers are ok and you are clear for visa, my vacation was destroyed and me and my family has the worst 30 hours with four flights and long transit hours, I want to request compensation for the emotional and physical experience we had and I am not liable to pay more than the price of my ticket again just to go home and I had a reservation in Sheraton Baku...

The most incredibly rude security check I have ever encountered in the last 15y. Been a photographer that shoots on film for my entire career I know the rules and I know standard transport regulations. Carring a considerable amount of film to shoot the F1 race I was not only forced to feed it through both the X-ray machine at the security check but also at the entrance of the terminal. I had a lead bag with me and I was forced to take it out and it was useless for my to explain that one of my Mamiya RZ backs still had a film inside. While the first check at the entrance was somewhat professional and just kept repeating the standard "Mr. That's just our rules" in broken English, the drop that made my write this review was the actual security check. I tried to re-explain the situation, showed all my professional equipment, FIA media pass, opened the lead bag for inspection but they just refused to look inside. When asked to speak to supervisor or someone with slightly better English the 2 officers I was talking to sniggered and pretended to call a name. I don't speak russian but I can tell when I am been taken the micky of. I proceed to politely wait on the side for a good 10min just to see the 2 officers put their jackets off and leave as it was clearly their end of turn or break time. Asked the new ones if a boss was coming and they were again dismissive of situation and possible damage. After feeding it through a second time then the officers even dared to ask me to check if it "still worked" which again indicates that they had absolutely no clue of that they were talking about. I would also like to say that the security was deserted with very few passengers so they had plenty of time to talk to me and inspect everything properly. I am now leaving Baku with a very bitter taste which is a shame because the rest of the city is stunning and everyone else was super welcoming and cordial. For example there are X-ray machine at every Metro entrance in Baku and in 5 days I never had any problem with any of those officers to hand check my lead bag of film. If you are a photographer that shoots film AVOID THIS...

I recently had the opportunity to experience Heydar Aliyev International Airport, and I must say that it left a lasting impression. The airport boasts a stunning and modern architectural design that showcases the country's commitment to both functionality and aesthetics. The clean and well-maintained facilities added to the overall pleasant ambiance of the airport.

While waiting for my flight, I had the chance to explore the various amenities available. The airport offers a selection of restaurants, cafes, and shops, providing options for dining and shopping needs. Although some of the establishments are known to be on the pricier side, the convenience of having these amenities readily available was appreciated. Additionally, the fact that they remain open 24 hours is a great convenience for travelers with early morning or late-night flights.

One highlight of my time at Heydar Aliyev International Airport was the complimentary WiFi. The fast and reliable internet connection allowed me to stay connected with loved ones and pass the time while waiting for my flight. It's always reassuring to have access to free WiFi, especially for travelers who rely on staying connected during their journey.

The staff at Heydar Aliyev International Airport were professional and helpful, providing assistance and guidance whenever needed. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to assist created a welcoming atmosphere for travelers.

Overall, my experience at Heydar Aliyev International Airport was highly positive. The combination of the airport's beautiful architecture, modern cleanliness, and convenient amenities contributed to a pleasant and comfortable travel experience. I recently traveled through Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, specifically Terminal 2, and found the experience to be quite mixed. The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1, which is new and beautiful, and Terminal 2, which is smaller and older. It's important to know which terminal your flight departs from before heading to the airport. Terminal 2, where my flight was, is notably smaller and lacks the modern amenities found in Terminal 1. There are very few restaurants and cafes, and the duty-free shop is tiny, primarily offering alcoholic drinks. The waiting area is also quite small, though the service was fine overall. The process before check-in involves several steps. First, you need to pass your luggage through a security check. After that, before checking in, you must show all your documents. Once you've checked in and collected your boarding pass, there's a boarding gate where you'll face another security gate. Here, they remove any water bottles, which was a bit inconvenient. After this final security check, you enter the duty-free and waiting area. Unfortunately, there's not much to explore in Terminal 2, but I did find a bit of local flavor with the traditional street food, Qutab, available at the airport. Overall, while Terminal 2 is functional, it lacks the comfort and amenities of its newer counterpart, making it less enjoyable for longer waits.

**This airport experience has been terrible.** From the moment I arrived, the service has been shockingly poor. Staff members have been asking for tips and offering illegal services like fast-tracking people through the line, which is completely unacceptable. I requested a wheelchair as soon as I entered the airport, but no one helped. Everyone just kept telling me to ask at the counter, which only opens two hours before the flight. This is no way to treat someone who needs assistance. Communication is another big issue. Most of the staff don’t speak English, and those who do have such bad language skills that it’s hard to understand them. This is surprising and disappointing for an international airport. Before check-in, the only food options are a McDonald’s and two espresso bars. That’s really not enough, especially when you might be waiting for a while. I’m writing this while standing in a check-in queue that’s a complete mess. There’s no clear line, and people are just cutting in from all directions. This is for a flight to Jeddah, which should be better organized, considering it’s between two Islamic countries. Overall, this experience has been horrible.
