Saunders Beach — Attraction in New Providence

Very beautiful unspoiled beach for a quiet getaway away from all of the tourist traps. It was a $5 cab fare to get here from the cruise ships. We arranged for the cab to pick us up at a certain time and he was right there on time. It is too far to walk there. If you are looking for amenities such as kayaking or jet skiing, then go a little further to Goodman's Beach. This was very quiet and we were able to snorkel right off the beach. I saw a spotted ray and huge spiny lobster along with quite a few fish. I would love to go back and just do garbage pickup as there was some trash among the rocks and sea floor. Stopped here for a day at the beach with the family. We picked it because of the Google reviews. It was not at all crowded and we easily found parking (a parking lot right there). We quickly found a spot on the beach with shade. The water was beautiful and calm, and sand was so soft. The bathrooms were very clean and the attendants were very nice. I will say that there was some trash strewn around areas of beach closest to the sidewalk, so I took a star off for that (we found a broken glass bottle in the sand that one of us almost stepped on). Open beach, parking is always avaliable along with a kids play ground if you're with some. The beach is mostly always clean, the rest rooms were available when I was there. But there are outside showers near the rest room. KFC, liquor store , gas station and other stores are in walking distance ( about 2- 8 min walk) . If you're a tourist you won't have to worry about merchants trying to sell you anything on this beach and if you want to purchase anything from a merchant this beach isn't the one for you.
