Before I start, may I load the review with numerous caveats. The vast majority of people seemed to have had a great time, (the copious amount of alcohol consumed seemingly helped) those people who were sat near to the stage. Alas, for us, it was like being sat in different room, the turtles on the beach possibly had a better experience, although I fear they’d heard it all before... So far away from the stage, we couldn’t see a thing for an event we paid top dollar to attend. My argument, the couple sitting near the stage had paid the same. It’s a lottery as to where they sit you. Get there early for the best seats, but if you’ve paid the extra for the their bus service then you’re screwed. We arrived last! Our view, terrible. Tucked away to the side of the drop-off window for dirty glasses at the bar, the very, very back of the “theatre”. See photo. That said, we had a great view of the glass collectors and patrons marching like obedient Formicidae to charge their empty glasses. Their Congo obscuring what view we actually had.
Food, I’m vegetarian so I wasn’t expecting the world. On arrival guest were offered an Amuse-bouche of battered fish cakes and deep fried plantain. Both served to your plate with the same piscus covered utensil. I passed. The main. On entry to the event you’re given four choices. Steak, Shrimp, chicken or the very lazy, let’s choose to cook this heavily processed veggy/vegan, I don’t want this muck, straight from the freezer. I showed my little green dietary ticket to the server who instinctively reached for the food tongs off the BBQ. NO!!! The vegan burger was prepared away from everything else, but you failed at the last hurdle. I don’t want meat or fish juices mixed into my meal. To be fair the side dishes had a varied choice Rice, potatoes salad and beans. But I was given a sliver of the macaroni pie, a folk full. The steak/ chicken eating couple sat near the stage had paid exactly the same but had received a far better service.
The entertainment, like I said our view was in a different zip/post code. We felt totally disengaged from the room. It was like watching your neighbours new 64’ Tv from across the street. The couple sat near the stage had paid the exactly the same but had received a far better experience.
Our short bus journey home afforded us the opportunity to canvas those around us. The general opinion of the couples who had sat near the stage and who had consumed their fair share of animal flesh, and who had artists performing on their laps. They had paid exactly the same as us but and had received a far better service. Their opinion was “not worth it”. My opinion for what it’s worth is. I knew as a vegetarian the food would be poor. But to charge us west end/Broadway prices for seats in the gods when: The couple sat near the stage had paid exactly the same but had received a far better experience. I feel short-changed and...
Read moreMy friend and I went on our last day of vacation as we had been recommended. it costed a lot but we thought it would be worth it for the entertainment. the first part of the act was comparable to a high school talent show. the dancers and show people were good but it was nothing special. it was raining during the day so the seat they gave me had dripping water coming from up top and by the time i left my back was soaking wet. the open bar they offer only has a select amount of drinks available. which again for the price, should have unlimited option . when i went to retrieve a drink i was harassed by the bar tender working, making comments about my looks, asking who i was with, whether it was my boyfriend and he made a comment saying “my girlfriend is miles away”. this made me uncomfortable and i felt like i was unable to go to the bar and order another drink as i didn’t want to have to speak with him again. so i missed out on the part of my paid dinner. my friend also attempted to go to the bar herself, and was harassed by the other bar tender so neither of us could go. the dinner served was okay at best. portion sizes aren’t great and it is served as a kinda cafeteria lunch, in terms of you grab a plate, and the workers dish okay food on your plate. the rest of the entertainment for the night was okay, until one of the entertainers on stilts decided to thrust his area in my friends face and tell her to call him. we are 19 years old, this dinner show is open to minors. the worker had no clue if we were of age or not, even though we are, no one should do h that to anyone, especially not infront of a huge crowd. this left a distasteful feeling in our mouths and we left immediately to find a manager. as soon as we told her our concerns she told us to wait for a few seconds. she came back 10 minutes to say “they apologized to me”. i don’t get what that apology has helped with. she also said “i hope this didn’t ruin your night” which it did. my friend and i wanted to enjoy our last night of vacation together and just have fun. we didn’t want to get harassed , get dripped on by water, not be able to go to the bar or simply enjoy ourselves. it did certainly ruin our nights and especially for the price paid. whenever i think of that night i won’t think about the mid entertainment or food, i will think about how my friend almost left crying due to feeling so uncomfortable and violated by that worker. spent 217 dollars barbados which is not a justifiable amount for the experience we...
Read moreI was super excited for the harbour lights evening show, the tickets were quite pricey but after reading so many brilliant reviews I thought it’d be worth it especially with the free drinks and food included. However I have to admit I was really disappointed, we went mid May and were very unlucky with the weather meaning it was torrential rain the night of the show. Not their fault and no one can help Mother Nature. But my frustration came from the fact we were one of the first people there, we were guided to a table which was a bench in the open, at this point my boyfriend asked if we could have one of the free tables which were under cover instead. The waiter informed us we couldn’t but we could sit on the bar stools instead if we preferred to avoid the rain. We said no problem we will stay on this table so we actually had a proper seat but if the rain worsened we would ask to move. He said that was fine but then this was followed with 2 hours of torrential downpour, and they refused to let us move to any of the available tables which were completely empty. We asked 5+ times and were just told ‘they’d be back’ with an alternative but they never returned. After an hour in the pouring rain and getting increasingly frustrated at being told we couldn’t sit in the dry seats, which were still empty we decided to just move. 90 minutes after the event started they then came over and kicked us off this dry table telling us it was reserved. We said if you find us a dry alternative we will move but again no alternative was offered. We asked if these people had paid more money than us for their ticket but were told no, so why weren’t the dry seats first come first serve? It ruined the evening we were drenched, the lady next to us was 90 years old eating her dinner in the rain. I know weather can’t be helped but the entertainment was also a little disappointing, apart from the band the acts were good but not mind blowing. The acts had a fantastic attitude and did their best but it didn’t feel like professional level of performances more like an all inclusive evening entertainment. Food and drinks were delicious so I’m sure I’d be leaving a very different review if the weather had been kinder but the poor management of keeping people dry or atleast being understanding of peoples frustration just ruined the entire atmosphere. There was clear preferential treatment for some. It was...
