If you are someone like me who is in love with abandoned buildings, this is the place for you. It is located around 1 hour south of Berlin in Beelitz. I spent one of my favorite day trips ever there. The place consists of a few sections, it is huge. This place was abandoned after WWII, it was an isolation camp for the working population of the imperial capital Berlin to recover from Tuberculosis. There's a unique tree top path to walk around the premises of the different buildings. However if you want to check the inside of the buildings, you need to book a separate ticket for each that cost extra and doing a guided tour is the only way to check these buildings out Guided tours available: - Alpenhaus - 1hr - Three Buildings Tour (Women pavilion, Cook house, surgical ward) - 1.5hr, recommended! - Old surgery building - 1hr I recommend to get the entrance ticket and book at least one of the guided tours to get to see the inside of the building. Doing all of them is time and money consuming so I recommend doing the three buildings tour to see the most of everything. I am giving four stars because the tours are only in German and the prices are quite expensive in my own opinion and the food options are very limited. Otherwise I am actually looking forward to go again with more friends and family

Soo I really liked Baum & Zeit and it would’ve been a convincing 5 stars had it not been for a couple of small critiques. The Baumkronenpfad was pretty cool, we had a lot of fun walking along it, the missus liked the Riesenhängematte (pictured) as did I. We learnt a thing or two along the way about various tree species and the history of the abandoned buildings with the help of the plaques, was still very pleasant even though many of the trees obviously didn’t have leaves. We got some soup and chips from the canteen both of which tasted pretty good HOWEVER (first critique), charging for sauce when you sell chips is insaaanely lame and an instant vibe-kill, so pleeeease please stop charging for sauce. My only other critique was the entry price, maybe this is already the case but it really seems like it should’ve been slightly cheaper in the winter when most of the trees are bare. As nice as it was I didn’t feel I was getting ‘the full quintessential Baumkronenpfad experience’, and so €13 felt a bit expensive. However BIG PICTURE, I had a really nice time at Baum & Zeit and would like to go again in Spring/Summer, i‘d also definitely recommend to people, buuut just be aware it’s a bit expensive to get in and yeah they’re charging for mayo for some reason

Great interesting place worth a visit. There is a high tree top walk way and view point tower to see the ruins from above. Prepare to leave quite some money there though. It is €10 for entry to walk the walkway and see the ruins from the outside, and then it is another €10 for each tour of the inside of the ruins- there are at least 4 different ones. I made a trip there alone and it costed me €40. €2 parking, €10 entry, 2x€10 for two tours and €8 for some food (I have spent over 6 hours there-if you want to do more tours, be prepared as you will spend quite a bit time waiting for them). That being said, the tours are worth going (and paying for them), my guide Mike was pretty knowledgeable, funny and friendly. You will learn many interesting things about Berlin and the life there before 2WW. The pictures of the interiors also talk for themselves. Photographers paradise.

amazing experience, quite erie walking around the derelict buildings, their dilapidation is the attraction, imagining the life before when it functioned as a small town. Now with nature taking over there are literally fully grown trees growing out of the roofs, quite a sight. Another incredible feature here is the treetop walk, a suspended platform 18 metres high at the treetops built so you can look down on the abandoned hospital. Incredible views of the surrounding Brandenburg countryside too. Not that easy to get here on public transport but doable, once an hour train from Berlin and then a 10 minute walk, with good planning it's possible but especially plan your departure from Beelitz to make sure you catch the return train ; it leaves at 2 minutes past each hour and takes approx 30 mins to reach Friedrichstraße.

Not well maintained I would say but for those who likes history and abandoned places this is for you. I wish they allow entry into the buildings but you gotta pay for a Room tour seperately. entry ticket is high compare to what I got to experience and compare to any other attractions. But overall I am into history and really liked encountering this wonderful landmark of History. Tree top walk was something different. Restaurants had average good but not bad. plenty of space for kids to play. Toilets were neat and clean. Caution: This is the first time in 3 years after moving to Germany I encountered place with tons of Mosquitos. bring mosquito repellent spray or wear full covering cloths.
