It is a nice place for a day of skiing for people of all skill levels.
It is possible to rent the gear (skis, snowboards & boots and helmets) on the spot, and i personally found it to be comfortable and affordable.
The slope is accomodating to all levels, even on the big slope there is a spot where you can get off halfway if you don't feel comfortable going all the way up. However, there is very little space between the beginners/learners slope and the advanced slope, which means that there are just a couple of meters of buffer space, which makes it easy for ones to bump into the others (felt rather risky in my opinion).
There are ramp/belts on both sides of the slope, allowing you to get to the top, which is nice as it doesn't become overly crowded, but it's still rather slow so you better have patience and warm clothes on :)
The place has a restaurant before you enter the slopes and a warm cozy bar after you have entered where you can take a break, get something to drink and watch others skiing and snowboarding (the time you spend in the bar does not take away from your booked slope time which is a great plus!).
The only truly negative points I'd give it is for a couple of dangerously slippery spots where you have to walk on. One of them is the stairs you use to enter/exit the slope, there are spots that are not covered in rubber, which makes the exposed concrete extremely slippery to walk on in your boots. Another spot is the entrance/exit point to the bar, very very icy! Even though it is understandable that frequently walked paths will get icy, it should be more of a reason to implement a solution to avoid broken bones and sore bums. Consider...
Read moreSo we were a group of 8 and 6 of us took beginners group lesson. The instructor assigned to us was very rude and horrible at teaching + communication. I have zero experience and knowledge in skiing and this was my first time and that is why I chose beginners lesson. Normally, I expected to have some basics taught first ( how to get comfortable with the ski) but unfortunately the ski instructor just took me the steep side and asked me to ski. After falling couple of times, he whispers to his colleagues, “one should have talent to come here and ski”. This was overheard by my friend. I was very angry when I heard this but I was already out by then. However, I had a second instructor (Gunter) later on as he saw I was struggling. He was kind and taught me techniques that gave me some motivation and confidence. The rude instructor was a young boy with blonde curly hair and the second(good) instructor was Gunter. I request the management to hire some experienced instructors to teach...
Read moreToo expensive for what you get in return. Not a lot has changed since SnowWorld took over but all the changes I've noticed are negative: Lockers cost money now (€2,5 per visit) If you don't book online in advance everything is more expensive (e.g. €3 surplus for any ski pass, which is honestly inexcusable) Prices have gone up and are the same as other SnowWorld venues (but here you get a lot less for the money compared to e.g. Landgraaf).
Some general remarks: Snow quality isn't great Lifts are very slow and the only benefit for snowboarders (being able to walk up the lift to gain some time) is not allowed anymore Rented material is fine 4 hour evening pass is an okay deal - all other price options during "high season" feel like a scam Vouchers/coupons can now be used in all SnowWorld venues, which is good.
I visited on a Monday evening and it was busier than I expected. Curious to see if prices change during...
