Museum for Old Techniques — Attraction in Grimbergen

Interactieve museum, key principle is to inform in a "hands on" way. Particularly fun for families with smaller kids up to the age of 12/13 due to the museum being filled with games and opportunities to try techniques out themselves (ex. Shaping a thin peace of metal into a shape with a hammer), as well as the activity booklets for various age groups with which they go on a treasure hunt throughout the museum. Furthermore, workshops are offered in the weekends and holidays. Very advisable. Tickets can be bought at the counter without any waiting time, never actually sold out. It's recommended to reserve beforehand for bigger groups. The escape room should also be reserved online beforehand via the mentioned email adres. The museum has several staircases, and eventhough there's the opportunity to grab a foldable chair with you during the trip, the ability to climb some stairs...

Very nice and interesting museum but everything in dutch (Nederlands) nothing in french or english (only books with translations) Brussels is a few kilometers away come on ! ...

Ze hebben drie afdelingen. Wassen, smeden en houtbewerking. Je moet voor de houtbewerking komen. Dat is een behoorlijk volledige verzameling van een best uitgebreid vakgebied. Volgens mij hebben ze niet alle namen van elk stuk helemaal juist. Het zijn in ieder geval niet de gebruikelijke nemen in de vakhandel vandaag (voor een aantal van de hout schaven). Ik wil met deze aanbieden om met de mensen van het museum de stukken eens te overlopen. Het is in om vandaag met bewondering naar Japanse tools te kijken en daar hebben ze veel aandacht voor. Het zou toch tof zijn om ook de voordelen van onze zagen ten opzichte van de Japanse zagen aan te geven. Maar... Het is meer dan de moeite waard om er tijd voor uit te trekken. Ik weet van de delen die ons binnen liet dat de meesten er op een uur door zijn... Ik en mijn museum-partner hadden 2 uur nodig. We hebben dan ook de filmpjes over vaten maken en klompen maken helemaal...
