I really enjoyed my time visiting this zoo and looking at many animals that I have never seen in my life before. You need to pay just 3 KM for adults and 2,50 KM for children to enter this zoo where also you can enjoy sitting or walking and your kids can play in the playing area. These are some of the animals I saw there: Kangaroo, Reindeer, Llamas, Pelican, European horses, ducks, Wolf, South American raccoon, North American raccoon , fox, African goats ,American Bull,African Oryx, zebra, doves, Peacocks, chickens, Tiger, Lion, Bear, mongoose, Monkey, Turtles, and a crocodile.

Located just two kilometers from the city center and covering an area of 8.5 hectares, the Sarajevo Zoo, or Pionirska Dolina (Pioneer Valley), is a favorite destination among youngsters. Aside from nature walks and being able to see several dozen species of animals, Pionirska Dolina offers numerous activities and entertainment for children (electric cars, trains, merry-go-rounds...), as well as playgrounds with slides, seesaws, spinning wheels... Tickets is free for kids younger than 5 years, cost 2,5 KM for children between 5 and 15 years old, and 3 KM for adults.

I visited this zoo yesterday, and I was extremely disappointed and saddened by the state of the animals and the facilities. This used to be a place where animals were well cared for, but that has completely changed. The zoo was dirty, with old, poorly maintained equipment. The bears were in terrible condition, with one locked up and the other outside moving very slowly and breathing heavily, looking like it was in a bad state. The water for the bears was green and unclean. Many of the birds exhibited were missing a lot of their feathers, and a significant percentage of the animals had much smaller spaces than they needed. It was heartbreaking to see many of the carnivores clearly underfed — you could even see their ribs. One of the tigers had part of its tail cut, and I saw a pigeon with a broken leg. These animals deserve far better care. The zoo desperately needs renovation or, at the very least, proper attention to the animals' well-being. If things don’t change soon, it might be better for the zoo to be closed down entirely. As it stands, the conditions are unacceptable, and I hope to look into animal welfare services that could help address this.

The most of the animals are kept in insufficient conditions. Wolves have very small habitats, foxes are also cramped in the cage. Lions and tigers are just lying in the uncut grass, with almost no shade, trees, water... The worst are terrariums. Reptiles do not have needed lightning (UV, daylight, red light). White python had no water in the cage, chinchillas were in the cage which was smaller than the cages in pet shops. This Zoo shall decide if it wants to be a children's playground with few easy to maintain animals, like alpacas, water birds, antelopes, etc. or to have more animals but in better conditions. We have visited many ZOOs in Europe and this was the worst one. It cannot be compared to Beograd or Zagreb, not mentioning Prague, Vienna or Budapest. Our 11 year old son started to cry after he visited terrariums and kept speaking of it for the rest of the day.

we stayed there for 2 hours and walked across the Zoo. It's very family friendly, has a lot of great animals to look at and there are a lot of activities for children, such as go-kart, a huge playground and lots of other activities. The price was very humane. We were three adults and we paid 15 Bosnian Mark. The cafe that's attached to the Zoo has few options but all of them seemed to be pretty good. We only tried the Coffee and their banana Frappe ! Would recommend to go again

Honestly, the ticket is not worth 2.50€, but money is the least of the problems. For years, the appearance of the valley and all infrastructure has been very bad. I haven't been for a long time, and today my disappointment is big. The animals look sad, abandoned, maybe they are hungry, I don't know... The places where they live are in terrible conditions. I'm not against zoos, but animals don't deserve this kind of life and conditions, especially not like this one.
