Mirante Rocinha — Attraction in Região Geográfica Imediata do Rio de Janeiro

One word: disappointing.

I went with a friend who has lived in Rio all of his live and we were both equally disappointed about the place. Even as a foreigner I thought the place was totally overpriced. That’s the most overpriced place I have been to in Rio when assessing value. There was a private party happening so we couldn’t even access the area where there was live music.

First, we paid 50 reais per person just to get in. That should have been a red flag, but since we had gone all the way there we decided to give it a shot. The view itself was disappointing. Anyone who has done the hike up the Morro dos Dois Irmãos has seen the same view but WAY better, and FOR FREE!

Then, the drinks and food… SO overpriced, and underwhelming. Around 40 reais for a cocktail and there was nothing below 30 reais even just for a small bite.. It took forever for our cocktails to arrive. The tables and chairs are tiny and shoddy. You have to wait in line not only to get in but also to get out as you have to pass through the one cash register. Also considering just about anyone will also have to Uber to the location… In short, we paid 220 reais for two people not even counting the Ubers there and back, for the entrance, two cocktails, and three small patties. I wish we spent that money in an actually nice place. Don’t let the instagram pictures fool you. It’s not worth the money. I do not recommend this place and will not be back. Huge...

Go there, pay the entrance fee to enjoy the phenomenal views and skip eating. We ordered drinks, one came within a reasonable time. We had to ask about the other three which finally came after an unreasonable wait. We then ordered food, one order came to the table, a second order came about 15 minutes later. We asked three times to follow up on the remaining two orders. Of course they said that they would but no one ever provided us any follow up information. After almost an hour we asked for the check which prompted them to quickly get us the remaining two orders. When the check came the double charged us for two orders and the wait time to get it resolved was...

We had a reservation for diner, but by mistake we were charged 30 Real entrance fee. It was corrected by the manager. We had an absolutely lovely diner. Enough for two persons. It is like a Spanish Zarzuella but a bit more exotic. As a starter we had pastel carne. One of the best diners I had In Brasil. We had two caipirinas and Corona beer. We paid 283 Real ( 40 euro). I think that is NOT exoendive at all. The service was excellent and friendly. We came with UBER. They drove us back in the VW bus for 70 real but gave us a free favella tour going to Copacabana.
