One of the few favelas that are safe enough for tourists to visit. You will want to visit with a guide, not on your own. With our guide Alex (Favela Tours Rio through Airbnb Experiences) we felt perfectly safe as he knows everyone in the favela and grew up there. You go up by motor cycle and come back down walking. You do see people with machine guns who you are advised not to take pictures of. But there seems to be mutual respect between those people and the ones organizing tourist activities as both support the local economy. Highly recommend visiting, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Rio.

With our guide Alex (Favela Tours Rio through Airbnb Experiences) we felt perfectly safe as he knows everyone in the favela and grew up there. You go up by motor cycle and come back down walking. You do see people with machine guns who you are advised not to take pictures of. But there seems to be mutual respect between those people and the ones organizing tourist activities as both support the local economy. Highly recommend visiting, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Rio.

Tome el tour a la favela Rocinha con Inthegreentrip, el valor fue de $180 reales por persona. En total desde que te osan a buscar hasta que te dejan en el mismo punto son unas 2 horas y media o tres horas. Los puntos de recogida son 2( Copacabana e Ipanema) aunque me imagino que si están de camino a la favela, te pueden pasar a buscar en otro punto. La persona que hace el tour vive en la favela, por lo tanto la información que te da es completa, vimos su casa por fuera y saludamos a sus padres. Dicen que te dan agua, pero no es así, por lo que debes ir preparado con botellas de agua o comprar en el camino ya que dependiendo la temporada puede hacer mucho calor. Hay momentos en donde te piden que guardes tu celular y no grabes o saques fotos, y debes seguir lo que te dicen.

Es una experiencia diferente, que aunque muchas personas puedan juzgar por hacer turismo de la “pobreza”, aprendes cómo se construyeron las favelas, cómo funcionan con sus escasos colegios y hospitales y los problemas que hay con el tema de la educación en esas áreas, como uno puede comprar un terreno (sobre los techos ) , etc. La...

Exelente tour, tienes que subir con algún tour, solo no se puede, conoces de todo un poco, cada tour te dice su historia, su cultura y como se maneja una favela, es espectacular,la comida es rica y barata, todo es buena vibra, ahí no te pueden robar está prohibido robar, así que siéntete tranquilo, no se siente que te van a aprobar al contrario todos son muy amigables, respeta cuando te digan que no grabes donde ellos te dicen...
