The Foundation has done an exceptional job keeping the Burle Marx Estate not just intact, but alive - a breathing monument to biodiversity, conservation, art, culture, and intellect. And still, it’s comes as a surprise that many Cariocas still have no idea who he was. A Brazilian visionary. A Renaissance force. Hiding in plain sight in spite of his iconic design works all over Copacabana and Ipanema.
We’d booked the guided weekend tour months in advance through Tripadvisor - surprisingly, one of the few agencies offering this particular excursion. It wasn’t cheap, but every Real proved its worth the moment we left the city behind.
