Stara Zagora Zoo — Attraction in Stara Zagora

Has lots of potential but fails short to global standards of animal well fare. Small cages, no coverage of grass in most of the small cages, water available to animals is in critical condition. No filters? Brown adult bear psychological issues? - rotates in circles as if drugged… nothing looked healthy. Zero option for food/drink or anything that brings in funds for improving that hellish place. Zero education, zero option of children educational interaction of any sort! The cages in the zoo are way too small for those animals! Especially for the birds! For example: there are many storks in one really small cage (around 2-3 meters high), obviously they can't move or fly , they just stand there on the ground! In a cage! That's a real torture, set them free or do something so they can have proper larger space! The only place that's big enough is in the middle of the zoo for the goats, sheep etc. Why isn't that possible for all the animals? Either you make a proper spacious zoo or you don't...

One of the rare and nice zoos in Bulgaria.

The animals were obviously very well fed and taken care of. The pens were clean.

The setting itself was very natural, very green, beautiful and it just fit so nicely. Compared to other zoos in Bulgaria this one is just nice.

Buying tickets was easy and could be done online, staff were friendly.
