It's a quaint little museum cum conservation centre run in partnership with Sophia university, with very few visitors. When we went the top floor was closed for construction, because of which they waived the entrance fee of 3$. This is an archeological museum exhibiting the digs around Siem Reap. There's a burial mound from Koh Te Meas (2000-500 BC) and one from Prei Khmeng (100-600AD) with assorted artifacts such as jewellery, beads, pottery etc on exhibition. There's also a gallery on 200 or so Buddha statues excavated from Batneay Kdei. Well...

I was surprised by their friendly staff. Staff there will guide and detail you at each point that is available in this museum for free (no charge for a tour guide in the museum). There are many statues of Buddha. And there is also ancient stuff that they have found under ground, and that stuff was used by Khmer ancient people before the Angkor Empire. You'll like it when you visit there. Specially, you'll learn more about Khmer culture and history once you...

A beautiful, quiet museum. Less dramatic than the main Angkor museum. The main exhibit is Buddhas discovered during a hydrological excavation. Assumed to have been buried during one of the changes in faith, some are in very good condition, suggesting that they were buried by people who still cared. Well worth the short trip out of the town centre.
