Brazeau Collieries Mine National Heritage Site — Attraction in Alberta

We visited the mine site on Friday July 25th with Marley as our guide. We had booked ahead which they recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour despite the odd bit of rain that fell that day. Marley was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to answer all our questions. There was so much to see that the tour time went by very quickly. Things have been well preserved considering the age. I sincerely hope that the site continues to receive funding to be able to maintain and offer these tours to the public. There isn’t a set fee for the tour (though I think it would be well worth it) but there is an option to make a donation which I hope people do. A very informative tour. Going behind the scenes to see what daily life was like working on the mines. Our tour guide, Courtney, had some funny stories and a grasp on specific dates, names and timing of what went on at the mine.

We saw this museum advertised on the board at The Crossing, we drove from there to the museum only to discover it closes at 16.30! No internet at The Crossing so we couldn't look it up! What a total waste of time! Maybe it's a good idea to post your opening times where it's advertised. We were so disappointed...
