The Nordegg Canteen — Restaurant in Alberta

After competing in the Raid the Rockies we stopped in for some fuel. We ordered the bacon and egg sandwiches and popsicles. The food was great. The popsicle flavours and profiles were excellent. The owner served us and took the time to make sure we had what we needed. One of our group runs a similar in Chilliwack so they talked shop. She took him into the back and let him in on some trade secrets. The friendly atmosphere and care was refreshing. When you add great food to that you can’t go wrong. I will be back for sure. We also found out that her partner JP runs Nordegg Adventures. He had helped us on course 2 days earlier when we were lost. These are the best kinds of people who deserve our business. Cons- 10$ for a vegan sandwich that was about the size of my palm. 2 stars cause it tasted good and service was great. But grossly overpriced for hummus lettuce tomato - paid extra for vegan cheese and couldn't taste it. Bun was cut in half, and my bf got the other half. If the half was 5$ and they offered the full bun for 10$ it would be more reasonable

You might get hit with a golf ball if you're waiting for food, stay closer to the parking lot...

Pros - service is kind and friendly. The fries are so so delicious. Better price that the sandwich and waaaaaay more given.

I ordered 1 scoop of foothills ice cream in a bowl and a homemade sugared donut. The ice cream was a generous sized scoop and fairly priced, but I was so disappointed in the donut! It cost over $4 and it was so hard and stale. I'd say it was a couple days old. I'd visit again but would just stick to the ice cream.

The location is great, as you can sit out back and admire the spectacular view of the mountains and the beautifully landscaped...
