Bit of a slog but manageable as long as one is able-bodied with no mobility issues. The first 2/3 of the hike comprises fairly humdrum switchbacks that can involve slippery rocks and gravel in parts, with a couple of great viewpoints. Once you ascend three flights of steep stairs the trail becomes completely exposed and eventually looks like a slight scramble to the top. Some folks turned back owing to fear of heights at that point which was understandable but it is very possible to get up with a minor scramble/careful foot placement. Hiking poles would be helpful. Totally worth the effort for the amazing views throughout the hike and at the top. Note: My mum struggled mightily coming down as she has knee issues which made the slippery rocks very problematic on the descent. Would allow lots of time and/or avoid entirely if you have similar issues.

Moderate to difficult hike... doable but please consider the difficulty level.. hiking shoes and hiking stick should not be ignored.. if you are new to hiking, avoid going without sticks.. winds above the tree line will make the hike difficult so plan well.. it can be very windy & cold up and complete hike of 10km will be very hard on legs due to elevation... enough parking available at the trailhead.. hike safely and enjoy the beautiful view...

Extremely well built trail which amazing views of Canmore and the surrounding mountains. I’ve given 4 stars as there are loads more mountains out there (just look around) and Ha ling is generally ridiculous busy. I shirt walk into the valley and you could hike Lawrence grassi and have the place you your self.

PSA: Don’t throw rocks off the edge. It’s a popular place to climb and although the face looks steep most won’t clear the face and a rock to the helmet or body while climbing could...
