It's a good trailhead! I park here for climbing, people park here for hiking, climbing, lake activities, and picture taking. I'd recommend getting here early (truly, as early as you can manage) if you are coming on a weekend and the weather is nice and it is between May-September. Parking has gotten progressively harder here as years have gone by.

Please don't box people in if you are parking here. Please do not approach the families of big horn sheep that frequent this road! Please do not block the road taking pictures of said big horn sheep! Keep driving (slowly) and be cautious of pedestrians...

We were in a group of three friends, and we came from Toronto to visit Banff for 3 days. Grassi Lakes Trail was our first stop. Amazing views, Grassi Lakes are just unique. The section after Grassi Lakes to finish the trail and arrive at Upper Grassi is hard to hike, at least during heavy snow and -16°, but we made it, and the view up there is rewarding, we started walking from Canmore Dowtown, so in total it was 20km, our plan was hiking to Ha Ling but we had no energy for that hahaha. If you are thinking about hiking there during...

This isn't a parking lot, it is a trailhead which begins as you to pass through a gate and walk down to the Grassi Lakes. It is relatively steep so proceed carefully. The best place to park for this trailhead is down the road at Whitemans Pond parking lot. This hike is much shorter than that started from the "official" Grassi Lakes...

As of July 14, 2024, the Upper Grassi Lakes parking lot is not available for parking. It is blocked by orange cones and is only accessible for pedestrians walking into the downhill trail to Grassi Lakes or for those wanting to admire the beautiful view of the pond. The closest place to park is down at the Whiteman’s Pond parking lot.

THIS LOCATION IS NOT AN EASY TRAIL. People are putting reviews in the wrong place. This is a steep trail thru a rock climbing area. Lots of steps and loose rocks on a steep decline. You are climbing down to the lake from the lake above. Just letting you know. I liked this hike down but I saw a lot of people struggling with it.
