Slimy man made swimming hole? Yes. Sublime? ABSOLUTELY. I've seen that review, and all I can say is "really? Really?? Come on! I'd swim there with my eyes open any day of the week before swimming in the Ottawa River! 😂
If you're looking for the kind of family getaway where your kids will stay away from electronics, your cheeks hurt from laughing, and you’ve got a hundred new flower pics on your phone—this is the place.
Yes, the man made pool had a bit of that “slimy charm”—nature’s version of a slip n’ slide—but that only made the adventure more fun. Who needs five-star hotels when you’ve got a slimy soft floor that makes every footstep a surprise? 😂
The greenery is jaw-dropping, like stepping into a Bob Ross painting. The flowers are so beautiful they made my phone gallery look like a botany thesis.
Restaurant food? DELISH!! Site and washrooms/showers? MR CLEAN KINDA CLEAN PETTING ZOO? yessss and the cutest little goat named Tariffa! ADORABLE
Now let’s talk pools—there are 3 excluding the man made one (1 for rug rats and another rug rat free!) Another with a slide and each one more splash-worthy than the last. Whether you want to cannonball like a maniac or float like an elegant piece of poolside driftwood, there’s a perfect pool for you.
It was a scorcher this weekend—so hot, even Bingo couldn’t handle it. Mid-number call, one camper fainted (drama queen style lol, ) EMS (campground patron) flew into action along with his fan, nurse (another patron!) jumped up mid-B-12 (not really cuz staff stopped bingo immediately) whisked her away on the 2025 royal chariot (aka a golf cart). Feeling much better, the fainting queen gave her royal wave, campers happily clapped her royal exit and N-45 was called next when I clearly could have used a G-53 for the win!!! Anyway, pretty evident these campground patrons do honestly give that "we're all family here" kind of warm and fuzzy caring feeling!! 🥰
And the staff? Absolute legends. They're like camp counselors crossed with fairy godmothers—always smiling, always helpful, and clearly in love with their jobs (and their guests). Our hosts (wish I'd had more time with ya Josie😘) are the kind of people you wish lived next door—warm, welcoming and all around "give the shirt off their backs" kind of people.
We came for a girl get together with the fam and besties, we stayed for the laughs and we left with hearts full. If you're looking for a family-friendly campsite that embraces the outdoors, slime and all, book it now. You won't regret.
Thks Cedar Shade Campground and see ya next year and every year...
