Our go-to family picnic spot. Tables on either side, but we prefer the ones on the east/south side, where the bay is narrower and it's easy to keep track of small children. Wide tidal flats are awesome for beachcombing and playing. We do bring the dogs, but keep them tied up carefully. (Bring baggies - there is no dispenser here.) We bring our mini tabletop propane BBQ as well, which is allowed. Good cell reception here also means that I can work from here on warm days. The bobs floating out in the bay mark crab traps. If you want to do any crabbing, you will need a small boat, but I understand it's quite good here. The lawn on the west side has a large cottonwood with a rope swing. Plenty of sun and perfect spot to launch a kayak, paddle board or even small boat, if you can...

The west beach at Gabriola Sands Provincial Park is a great place for families and seniors for playing, walking, and playing in the water. The beach is safe.

It is relatively accessible. Some might want help getting down to the sand from the meadow as there are no railings and there are logs washed up on shore. There is a good walk along firm but uneven stone on the south side of the west beach.

Although it's a bit uneven the large meadow above the beach is a good place for children to...

Came on a hot and sunny day. Parked and walked across the meadow to play in the sand and water with our kid. It was busy enough and everyone appeared to be in a good mood. The water happened to be colder that day (August) however it was very refreshing considering how hot it was in the sun. You can walk out pretty far and it’s not very deep. Very easy to practice your stroke if you swim parallel to the shoreline. Good place to chill on a hot day. Worth checking out. Good...

It’s a good park with beach on both east and west side. We stayed at the east side in the afternoon, so it got plenty of shaded area, which is nice. I do also think that the east side have a more fine white sand, than the west side. There’s also plenty of picnic tables on both side, and the west side has a large open field before you get to the beach.
