I'm not sure how I haven't revieved PP before now, considering we have spent the past 9 summers here and consider it a HIGHLIGHT. Maybe it's becuase I don't want anyone else to know about it..? :) PP is the best kind of family-friendly, camping experience. It's the only place my kids have felt free to roam and explore/meet other kids and just feel safe. We bring our boat every year to fish for Chinook, but many people just come for the campground vibes. The general store is well stocked with essentials, gifts and fishing supplies, and the nightly pilgrimage for ice cream is legendary. The accomodations are always squeaky clean and all the staff are amazing - especially the owners. It's worth noting that thought this resort is jam-packed in the summer months, there is enough to do in the area (hikes/walking trails/good restaurants) to make it a very viable shoulder-season destination. Things to do: Fishing off the dock for bullhead ages 3+ Rent paddleboards and launch in the marina Saratoga Beach - 10 minute walk Oyster River swimhole - 5 minute walk Shallow river play right on the property Go carts up the road Golf - 5 minutes away 20 minutes from both Campbell River and Courtney

If you ever wanted to try glamping, this is the place for you. My friend and I stayed in one of the rental RV’s last month. It was amazing. Riverfront property, outside kitchen, barbeque and gorgeous deck overlooking the river. We were told the mattresses were just up graded and they were wonderful, more comfortable than the hotel resort we stayed in prior to our arrival here. The inside of the RV was great! A walk-in closet in the master bedroom, an amazing walk in shower in the biggest RV bathroom I’ve ever seen. Hot water on demand in the bathroom. This resort has it all, campsites, cabins and RVs to rent. Some lots are ocean front, some are river front and a large Marina to store your boat if you have one. There’s a small store offering some necessities that may have been forgotten, many flavors of ice cream and specialty coffees and teas! This resort is close to a golf course, beautiful market store, winery and restaurants.

We've been to RV resorts up and down the island and I have yet to stay at one as nice as this. Really reasonable rates for a beautiful location and wonderful amenities. The RV sites are tight together but not as bad as many I have been to in the Okanagan, for example. Infrastructure in the park is good. No bad septic smells, good water pressure, no power issues. The pool is great and is nice and deep (8'). Walking distance to several entrances to Saratoga Beach, and you can launch your boat, kayak, paddleboard etc right from the marina. They don't gouge on anything - laundry is cheap, the camp shop is well stocked and is really reasonable. There are quiet hours I'm sure but I'm not sure what they are because they don't patrol with a golf cart and flashlights if you're out around the fire at night as long as you're relatively quiet. 10/10 we would stay here again. You won't be disappointed.

We booked 10 days at Pacific Playground to camp with family. Here are things to consider if you want to stay here:||||- is is predominantly a residential RV park. ||- there is minimal care of the park and campground. We had a premium site. It was muddy, and no care done. Fire pit had garbage in it. on arrival and was never cleaned, including the one beside us after the people left. Water tap had a broken handle. No care was done during the entire stay to any sites. We watched closely. Nothing was ever cleaned up. Pipes were poorly wrapped to prevent water from freezing and most wrap was falling off. ||- there is no restriction on units. If you pay, you stay. We had 30+ year old trailer come in beside us with very sketchy people mostly broken down truck and car. We didn't feel safe beside them. The office said if they pay, they stay. We felt like we were staying in a ghetto trailer park you see in movies that no one want to stay in. The "campers" were rude, left garbage in their pickup so we were awakened by crows ripping it apart, dog poop about. As there is no one paying attention to the sites from the campground, no one seemed to care or have any idea what was going on. ||-they charge for wifi, and there is minimal signal at the premium sites||- a huge storm came through while we stayed there, and we had to secure the rental trailers equipment around us when it became clear no one was going to||||Basically...don't stay here. They can't be bothered to take care of the sites, or spend the money to keep the place from flooding when it rains. Most of the premium sites were in poor conditions when it came to lack of gravel and abundance of mud. Sites in the provincial campground were in far better condition. ||||One positive: The camp host was helpful when we needed him. ||||I would not recommend this campground unless you are looking for somewhere to live and even then, the place is pretty neglected from a "grounds" perspective. So much flooding throughout the roadways a d the campsites. We saw money invested in making a little hedge for one of the rental trailer sites but all the dirt they dug up they just left along the roadside creating a muddy mess. No logic...

My wife and I have been staying in the cabins for 5 - 7 nights in August for more than 25 years. We have always considered this place as the highlight of our summer. We have not missed a year since the start. But since we go annually we are sensitive to changes in the park. This year was essentially perfect. The weather was warm, little wind, the river had more water in it than for many years. Also all over the site there were improvements. The flower gardens and boxes were very nice and well cared for. Our cabin #10 had new floors, appliances and the bathroom was completely renovated. ||Now the issue that is going to break our string of years there and this year might be our last ever. Every year including the reservation for our stay this year it worked this way. They would not release the cabins for the next year until after the current year ended. The procedure was to give the office your name and the dates you wanted the next year and they would phone sometime between Nov. and Feb. to confirm what you wanted and to collect the deposit. Do yesterday, before we left, I went into the office to add my name to the list. EXCEPT now the system has changed. There is no more list and they had released next year's reservations for the cabins on the past May long weekend. As a result there are no vacancies available for either cabin we like for the whole month of August 2023. I don't mind competing for reservations but they never announced the change in the system. I watch their website regularly and it never showed up. So that anyone who stayed later in the summer and wanted to re-book for next year is out of luck. We are extremely disappointed with this result as we had no intention of taking our annual trip elsewhere. If I had known that the next year had been released in May I would have booked then but there was no communication from the resort. Businesses, such as this one, rely on the goodwill of the users and in one quick move they have lost two customers who genuinely like this resort. Making my wife cry from disappointment is sure a good way to loose a...

Our family loves Pacific Playgrounds!!! We have such a wonderful time here every time we come. There is something here for everyone! We got a cabin last year and rented a trailer this year. Both places were spotless and well taken care of. The head of housecleaning personally introduced herself and asked if there was anything we needed. The campgrounds are tidy and the shower facility, laundry facility, and pet shower are always well kept, and clean. My husband enjoys the convenience of keeping the boat in the slip for quick access to the ocean where he spends most of his time fishing. Oyster river is also a must! We love to cool down on a hot day and enjoy a nice swim. It’s literally my labs favourite place to go! Everyone here we have met is so welcoming and friendly. I love the fact that Pacific Playgrounds is so dog friendly. Everyone here gets to know each others pets, and it’s not too long before you make it a daily routine to come say hi to our dog friends. The kids have enjoyed the pool and had an absolute blast swimming! Everyone keeps a look-out for each other and we feel so safe with the kids riding around on their bikes with their friends. They are out morning til’ night having fun with their friends. We love the store here, anything you need between fishing gear and ice cream, is all just footsteps away. Having everything we need right here has saved us from having to drive to town to get things we need for fishing and food. We absolutely love the ice cream here! We make sure to get at least one ice cream a day. There is also a beautiful beach on the ocean, not too far away. The wonderful experiences, the people, and the memories we make, will have us coming here for years to come. Next year we plan on getting a cabin again, after renting an RV spot this year. The extra room and having river literally in your back yard is just too good to pass up. The memories made here, you will carry with you for a life time. Such a magical place to...
