Read moreOne of my favourite 'with kids' camp spot. Lots for the school aged kidlets to do and explore. Older kids would not be entertained unless they like to paddleboard or kayak. But for elders, wee kids and couples, it is wonderful. I love the walkin sites OFF season but during the high season they are way too congested and LOUD. I had to sleep in the van[which is not allowed] due to noise but still enjoyed my solo here. When we camped with our young kids we had WONDERFUL days and it felt safe for them. You are still on the water so kids have to be watched extremely closely...but the campsites are big enough that you can set up little activities to keep them happy/safe. The cabins built for the Olympics are lovely. I have not stayed in them, but hope to book one in the near future...so precious. DO BE WARNED...trains pass through and wake you at night...literally rattle your dentures situation [chuckling...I don't have any YET]. A great place to spend the day too....good diving, sport watching, swimming/paddling, beach arts, kayaking, paddleboarding etc. Know your wind/tides and water safety. Watch your kids. And the day will be...

It was a visual treat that I saw yesterday at Porteau Cove Provincial Park in Squamish. 🌌Those views were so stunning, with a clear sky filled with snow-capped mountains, the ocean, shooting stars, and definitely the spectacular northern lights. Indeed, I still can’t believe that I have seen my first ever northern light experience with such a high note on a Kp 9 index, which is basically as high as it can possibly get and the strongest solar storm in the past 20 years. 🌠
Reaching there was not that fun. I have never seen so many cars parked illegally along the Sea to Sky Highway and people walking everywhere to get their spot at the viewing point; even the traffic was terrible at around 1:00 a.m. 🛣️
