Wanting to add to the following reviews: Glen snow, Christopher Innes and Aman Sekhon. The customer experience we had compared to last year was very disappointing. Yes our tee times were as followed, 540, 550 and 6pm. Arrived on site well ahead of our tee time and the greeting we received was bare to none. We weren’t instructed that we had to bring range balls up to the range, so we arrived up there mountain and had to scrounge up what was left over and split it over 10guys. You would think there would be plenty of buckets up at the range for the customers to use. At the price you pay at this course for 18holes, compared to other courses we played that weekend, the customer service received upon arrival was underwhelming. The reply to one of the other reviews mentioned was “after 7pm we do not always have a beverage cart available”. as mentioned, we never saw a beverage cart prior to 7pm on the course and were never informed by your team member in the club house upon check in, Marshall or greeter that there was no beverage cart on the course. We finished our 9holes, it was 830 by the time we spoke to the Marshall as a group as to what our options were moving forward. The young gentleman didn’t know how to answer, he mentioned that we could either continue playing or call in the morning and we would either get refunded or given a credit. When we mentioned we wouldn’t want a credit, he followed with, I don’t see it being an issue being refunded. It was then recommended we would have to call in the morning and talk to Justin the Golf Pro that would be in in the morning. If we were told straight up that no refund or credit were going to be an option we would have continued our round and finished. In response to the “wanting to watch the game” comment made in response to Glen Snows review, Yes there was an oilers game that evening, no this is not the reason we were wanting to leave early and call it a round after 9holes, we in fact had the game playing on our phones in the carts, and the game was half way through the third period when we decided to call it a round. Coming from the customer service industry, I understand that businesses have guidelines and rules that are to be followed, that being said, the young staff member did not understand how to handle this situation. We were directed in the wrong direction and in result of this paid $160+ for 9holes of golf. As for Justin, the golf pro/manager, this was miss handled from the initial phone call. You’re team member made a mistake, I understand that, but there was no ownership from management. This could have been dealt with differently. At the end of day it comes down to customer service and customer experience, after this event, this is not a course I would recommend due to experience we had. Very unfortunate because the course is...
Read moreWent here July 2024 for a bachelor party. We had 3 groups, but were keeping it pretty tame because we were hungover from the night before. All of us were relatively seasoned golfers.
Getting to the first tee: First experience from the backshop kids were great, very knowledgable and helpful. Practice green was well kept, actually representative of the speed on the course. The driving range was on mats, for the price I was expecting grass tees. We got to the first tee 15 minutes before our tee time, then the starter proceeded to take 20 minutes to explain that when hitting up a hill you needed to club up, and that we needed to keep up pace of play, but mostly telling us how amazing the course was and how he plays it every day. After the 1st group teed off, the starter and another marshal proceeded to passively aggressively tell us we were already 5 minutes behind, so to make sure to play fast - very annoying after the unbelievably long talk from the starter.
Playing: The course design was great. Unique designs on each hole. Each hole felt like it could be from a different course, and was paired with the most amazing views. Perfectly kept greens and fairways. A couple tee boxes were very slanted forcing an awkward tee shot. Unfortunately the green side bunkers were terrible as they were filled with rocks, I only hit one bunker but was tempted to pick up my ball to not damage my club. The marshal told us to pick up our speed once because the group in front was a bit ahead, which is fair but was frustrating because of the begging encounter with the starter, but she was very polite. It was over 30 celsius out, and the marshals did a good job of coming around with water jugs every few holes.
Dinner at the Cliffhanger Restaurant: Very nice interior, prices were very reasonable. Food was pretty good, and definitely the price. Service from the front of house was good. The only bad part was they didn't put our order through at the same time because they were worried about overwhelming the kitchen (there were 11 of us), so half of us got our food 10-15 minutes after the first half.
Summary: Need to clean up the act a bit to get 5 stars, feels like they are charging 5 star rates and relying too heavily on the location and course architecture. Service and maintenance need to improve to demand the price. The restaurant was well priced and puts out good food, might just be having a...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning course. One of the best i've ever played at, and would highly recommend anyone with a passion for golf to play here.
May 27th 2022 edit: Lots of unfortunate downsides to playing on this course at the moment. Course conditions were poor due to flood and heat from last year. They are trying to recoup costs by opening early. The course under these conditions should not be opened. There are tarps on the fairways, and most fairways are in very poor condition. Additionally, the course is cart path open. Therefore the pace is extremely slow. Greywolf is a course that is very difficult to walk from the cart path. The other issue we had was service. They were 'understaffed', which resulted in poor service. The drink cart was stationary only on one hole, and there was only 3 staff on the course. The marshal we only seen once during the first few holes. There were multiple bear sightings the day we played, including bears with cubs on the tee boxes and greens. There was no control over the situation and we had to call into the clubhouse to get someone to come out and take care of the situation. Again the answer we received was that they were short staffed and couldnt deal with every situation. So with the bears, walking, and jammed play (short times between tee offs) we were able to finish in about 6 hours, while having to skip holes due to bears on the greens. They took $20 off the cost of the round, but are still asking a brisk $159 on weekends. There are better courses to play in the area, especially with the conditions. Recommend waiting until later in the season. Its a great shame for me to write this review because I am an avid fan of this golf course and considered it in my top 5 to play at. Unfortunately with the situation as described above i cant recommend...
