I’ve come here a lot by water and by land. The trails to get to the beach are really nice and well maintain with some spots to look out over the water on the way to the beach. The beach itself is always clean and the outhouses are pretty good considering their hard to reach location. The beach is kept clean by the courtesy of everyone who goes there (that means you reviewer). The view is also super nice, looking out at jug island and out down the rest of the Indian arm. There’s lots of spots to sit (mostly logs and the ground) and eat lunch or dinner or whatever. This place is also a great place to propose to someone as people I know have discovered.
I would recommend hiking to this beach and also kayaking or canoeing at the same or another time. A good plan is to have half your group if you have one to boat and the other half to walk then switch.
When the tide is low or if you want a slightly longer swim you can swim over to Jug island and explore it a little bit. You can also look at all of the sea life (even more if you brought some goggles or a mask).

Read moreJug Island is a great family-friendly trail. Not quite a walk in the woods, but also not really a super technical hike either. Since it's quite short (5.5 km) with relatively mild elevation gains (~100 m), it's a quick outdoor fix suitable for people of all ages.
The village of Belcarra has decided to disallow parking on any of the streets in the area, so unfortunately the only place to park now is in the main lot by the park and pier...which gets insanely busy in the summer time. It used to be great to park by the trailhead and avoid the massive crowds that go to the park/picnic area, but I guess the residents are trying to limit the number of visitors. Great for them, I suppose but lousy for everybody else. What makes it worse is that the gate to the parking lot from Bedwell Bay road is perpetually closed, so that means there's only one way in and out. Seems like a pretty dumb decision to me, but what can you do.
The trail is nice, but with the lack of parking, it'll be pretty tricky to enjoy this trail when the summer...
