We asked the waitress at the restaurant where we had lunch what she’d recommend as an “off the beaten path” visit in Chéticamp, and this was her first choice. We’d already seen it on a list of places to visit in the area, so her recommendation clinched our decision. The walk to the lake is pleasant: one stretch has a steeper incline, but it’s an easy walk. There are options of other trails that branch off, but they are well-marked and you won’t get lost. Once you’re at the lake—which is gorgeous, clear, and green, and which would be an absolutely beautiful spot to go for a swim—you have the option of climbing up to a lookout point. This is the section of the hike that is more difficult, since it is much steeper and more rocky. There are ropes to assist, but if you are an experienced or semi-experienced hiker, you’ll have no trouble with it. (Coming down is a little harder than going up and requires some careful choices of foot placement so you don’t skid.) The view from the lookout is 100% worth it, however. Beautiful place, and...
Read moreThis breathtaking view captures the true beauty of nature from an elevated viewpoint. The foreground reveals rugged gray rocks and dry grass, showing the effort it takes to reach the top—but trust me, every step is worth it. Below lies a serene, round lake cradled by a dense forest painted in the vibrant hues of autumn—greens, oranges, reds, and yellows blending like an artist’s masterpiece. The white patches of gypsum scattered among the trees add a striking contrast to the deep blue-green water. Beyond, the forested hills rise gracefully under a sky filled with dramatic clouds and soft sunlight filtering through. It’s the perfect place to witness the beauty of Earth—especially in the fall, when every color, texture, and breeze feels alive. Don’t ever miss this in your life; it’s a view that...

For the views of the lake from top you must climb a very steep hill/cliff. Definitely not kid/senior friendly but worth the view.
Heard you can swim in the lake on not so breezy and cold day. This trail has garbage cans and highly recommend the hikers to clean up after themselves. There are a few park benches to sit throughout the trail and by the lake but no sitting areas or picnic benches.
This trail however is missing a portable/outdoorsy bathroom. There is also a parking lot with free parking for large vehicles like the...
