My first time at le Pays was two years ago on a day when admission was free! The staff do an awesome job being helpful and playing their characters. La Sagouine was there so we were very lucky indeed to see and meet her! It was great fun on Flea Island! Afterwards lunch at the buffet restaurant was delicious! We really enjoyed trying all the authentic Acadian dishes and one of the character staff members even told us how to make the dishes taste authentic with the correct condiments added as a true Acadian would which made trying the pouting rape extra tasty as we knew to try it with sugar or molasses which both went great with it! My latest visit was great as I went with an Acadian friend who had never been. The admission staff really should have been advising people that the buffet restaurant was closed to the public due to a wedding later that day as the food after the fun people, stories and music on Flea Island is half the fun. I was disappointed that I couldn't show my friend that part. Of course I knew not to expect to see the Sagouine as she had talked on my visit two years ago of retirement and her concern that they find a good replacement. She told us she thought they should have a talent competitor to find the next true Sagouine. We thought that was an awesome idea, because although the next person would never be the original at least a person filling the part would be put through their paces in a competition to show they had the right stuff to be able to tell excellent stories, sing and most of all...
Read moreWe had a great morning here. Make sure you check the schedule for the language of the presentations, which are excellent, the history of Acadia presentation in the hangar was my highlight. The site is easy to explore on your own, and it's accessible. The site is split into two sections, the 'land' and the 'island', the activities on the land were excellent, the island felt like it needed some love, and that there was nothing happening except for a singing/dance performance in French. There are houses that you can go in and explore, but zero information about what they represent, the time period, or the significance of the building. There also appears to be a cooking section, which was also abandoned when we visited. There is food available on site, it's fairly expensive and the choices on the island are mainly fried. Please bring a water bottle, the only water to purchase was an $11 reusable water bottle.
Is it good value for money? I wouldn't say for the $70 it cost my family of 4 to enter that it was.
Would I recommend that you visit? If you understand some French, yes. If you don't speak any, then I would have a hard time doing so.
The response I got was fair, and if they made it clear and explained that the locations would be manned (maybe a little clock with a return time, or a sign at the entrance of the building) then I would say that it's a...
Read moreIts a tradition for me and my friends to go at least twice a year, ive been attending the Christmas dinner since they started and this is my third year attending the summer theater . We were there last night and i was very dissapointed with the buffet. When i called to buy the tickets they informed me that the dinner will start at 630 pm and the play will start at 8 pm, arriving there at 625 we noticed that some people were already finished their meal and were eating dessert, some of us work and it sometimes makes it hard but we made it on time. There was a line up so we did get some food at 640, when we went for the second time to get some salmon at 650 they had none left, we had taken the chicken but it was so chewy we couldnt eat it, if the review was only for the actors i would give this five star plus more cause they were awesome, i dont understand why you serve that chicken when im there i hear alot of people talking amongs themselves and complain, maby try making turkey and please make sure that you dont run out of food cause that did turn me off for the summer theater and really when you think about it the price we paid and going home not satisfied is not good for your ...
