Beautiful walk. Stick to the board walk for a nice easy trail with some nice views of the creek and forest, or there is another trail where it is a little up and down which would require some good footwear as the trail can get a little muddy/mucky depending on the time of the year! RBG look after the trails very well, abundance of wildlife in most of the parks, get lucky enough we have seen Deer, Owls, abundance of birds, snakes, raccoons, chipmunks and more!

Went here with a number of other families for their Winter festival. I was worried due to the snow but it actually made the experience much more magical. Seeing thr lights shimmer off the snow and having the kids out and play was a great way to spend the evening. The train setup was also a sight to see. See if you can spot Thomas and Percy.

There is a paid parking lot (3 CAD per hour) right beside Cherry Hill Gate. We went in a weekday and there was plenty of room. For us, 3 hours was good enough to see most of Hendrie Valley Sanctuary. This natural park is amazing, is totally worth it. I highly recommend this part to any hiking or bird washing enthusiast.

If you want to go for a nice hike, I wouldn’t suggest coming here. This is a place for a nice stroll ~30min-1hr without significant physical exertion.

There needs to be a little bit more maintenance to be done as the waters don’t look to be well maintained but other than that it was still pleasant.

I’m still rating this part of the experience a 4/5 because I felt like Snow White coming here. There’s a lot of birds and chipmunks and squirrels that cover the entire area and people come with seeds to feed them.

I did take 1 star off because of parking. Parking is $3/hr Monday to Friday. On the ticket itself it says you do not have to display it on the dashboard, however I did out of caution and because I didn’t want to carry it. When I returned to the lot, we found a parking attendant walking around looking at everyone’s parking pass to see if it had expired. This can be SUPER frustrating if you end up getting a ticket for either not having it there or for having it expire....

So of all the hiking trails around Hamilton this one is my go-to and I tell everyone about it. Yes a few months ago they posted signs to stop feeding the wild life (the birds in the forest liked black oil sunflower seeds {dollarama has them} and the ducks in the water liked frozen green peas / no bread!) but it's still beautiful and the birds still come to see you even though you can't feed them now. This one time, at cherry hill gate, the Swan's were very aggressive when I was feeding them, like scary aggressive - I tossed all the food in the water and ran (well more like a slow trot as I don't run), so it's good that people stop feeding them because that's not cool. If you don't feed them, they will ignore you and you can admire them from afar which is how it should be. But go early when there are not too many people and the birds are out in full force, it's a beautiful way to...

I recently visited the Royal Botanical Gardens at Cherry Hill Gate and had a fantastic experience. The weather was perfect — clear skies and great temperatures — making it an ideal day to explore. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, with plenty of exciting spots along the trails to discover.

Although some trails were a bit muddy from previous rain, the weather held up during our visit, and my girlfriend and I were able to enjoy a lovely 5 km hike. It’s a wonderful place not just for hiking but also for birdwatching — we met so many friendly people out with their cameras, hoping to catch glimpses of the local birdlife.

The trails were lively but not overcrowded, and it was nice seeing so many others enjoying nature too. I would definitely recommend Cherry Hill Gate to anyone looking for a great hiking spot or a peaceful...
