We have been to a lot of farms and unfortunately the experience at Downey’s is the worst we have had. The farm is overcrowded, understaffed, and some workers are lacking proper work ethic. The whole experience feels like a money grab. They promote themselves as family owned farm, however the whole playground feels very commercially run.
Worst part is at the end of the visit, there’s a big line up and we waited in line to get in the market store. Then a very rude employee cut in the middle of the line to tell the last few families already in line that they are done for the day. When the “supervisor” came, she only cared to hear from the person working for them. Despite there were surveillance cameras outside of the store, the guy lied accusing people jumping the line in order to get in 🤷🏾♂️🤡 while we literally went all the way zigging and zagging in the lineup, and he was the one jumping the line. Management/supervisor seem to want nothing to be improved, and workers feel privileged to set their own rules. (like when and where to cut lines, instead of simply closing the lineup) It is quite pathetic the way they acted. The farm should be ashamed of having liars that treat customers as garbage working for them, and lead their onsite team.
There was a huge line up in the morning to get inside the play area. Once inside there were additional lines to use the facilities. Some trikes had broken seats and are dangerous for little kids to use. Porta potties look disgusting inside. Half of the portable hand washing stations had no water coming out. There was litter scattered in the play areas that only got cleaned up at closing. A cart at speedway had a dirty seat, and employee on site just picked up a piece of garbage on the ground in the middle of the track to wipe it off. The mini golf and wall barn weren’t equipped with enough balls to play properly. Poor lady working at the jumping pillow had to manage the lines and keep asking adults to get off the small kid jumping pillow. There’s no employee around when any equipment needs help.
It’s really disappointing because they have a lot of fun activities available, however it’s hard to enjoy them given the other facts. This is not the busiest farm we have been to. It seems that they are trying to offer more than they can handle. And the people there don’t care about customers. They only focus on their ego. The outdated tactics won’t work.
One big star for magician Steve Baker. The show was excellent!!
I rarely leave negative reviews. However this one has to be done. Hopefully...
Read moreI went today at this farm to pick up strawberries and to have fun with kids at the playground. So I came around 12:00 pm, went straight away for strawberries. The price was high 32 $ for a medium basket , (previous year around 24 $ same basket) , they warned us they don't have too much strawberries. We paid for 2 baskets 62 $ (-2 $ cause we came with our plastic baskets). So they send us to raspberries , and I could barely find some raspberries, fill barely one basket. At the end we moved down to strawberry field, and one lady worker tried to convince us to get a tractor back, because strawberry would be finished. So my wife was picking up strawberries there. Mostly of them were eaten by some insects, others were spoiled (over ripped). So, She could barely find some and fill the baskets. I gave up eating some fresh strawberries. It was 2:20 to get out from fields. My kids got hungry and wanted to eat smth. So I went to stay in line at the truck food, were they sell mostly french fires, hot dogs and chicken fingers. The line was so long that I encouraged my wife and kids to go and feed animals. They tried to get in but they needed wristband (bought them online for 8$ each =32 $ together for 4). So the come back and stayed in line I went for wristbands. Come back to give them wristbands, and replace them in line. Finally Kids and my wife went to feed animals. I stayed in line more than 40 min, + around 20 min find a place and eat. When we went inside in the play area, it was already 3 o'clock and smth. Kids couldn't explore all the play area, and all of shows were over. In less that 45 min we were supposed to leave play area, because it was closing. So my question for organizer, Why you keep playing area open only till 4pm. People are coming and spend so much money for everything you got and still don't manage to entertain their kids. Expenses:
All day fun filled activities at a farm for all age groups but definitely more for the little ones! We went there during their pumpkin fest event. As soon as you reach the entrance of the farm, you see a swarm of people around 100s of pumpkins placed in front of the main entrance! Great opportunity for people to take pictures with family and friends, celebrating pumpkin season!
On one side is the main farm with the pumpkins decorating the front. While on the other side there is the picking area. Depending on the season, people can pick strawberries, apples or pumpkins!
The main farm is where all the kids activities are. There is also an amazing marketplace at the entrance which people can enter without purchasing an entrance ticket. Lots of goodies to purchase here- from pumpkin donuts to different flavour of pies!
To enter the main farm a ticket is required. You can purchase at the gate or online in advance. It is advisable to purchase online prior to visiting the farm as it’s one of the most popular farms in the area. They only allow a limited number of people inside the farm at a given time!
As soon as you enter, there are different activities for one and all- hayride, petting zoo, corn maze, obstacle themed play areas, giant jumping pillows (more like huge air filled mattresses for people to jump on!), slides and swings, performance stages (scheduled time-slots), mini riding track, baseball pitching area (with speedometer), a hedgehog roller (kids rolling a huge drums as they run inside) and many many more. Make sure you come in with loads of energy to spend quality time exploring the different areas in the farm! There are a lot of farm equipments like tractors all around the farm for visitors to take picture!
There are a lot of benches under a huge tent and all around the farm for people to relax and replenish their energy, relishing the different snacks/food items that can be purchased on site or that can be brought from home as well. The only major drawback was the long lines for food! I feel having more eateries inside the farm would be super convenient!
One can also purchase pumpkins and other farm specific food items as you exit the farm.
Overall, an amazing experience and highly recommended for families with little kids. It is also stroller friendly! People can park their strollers next to the fence to go on the hayride with their...
