I am sorry to say but this will not be a nice review. It was my first time going to Edworthy Park for a beautiful baby shower. we parked our car at the bottom of the hill by the train tracks, around 4 pm on Saturday August 19th 2017. when we returned to our car at 6 pm we notice we were broken into and both our back packs were stolen. In those back packs was a wallet that contained Photo ID, Dept card, Visa Card, work Badge, work cloths and House Keys. I was told by the card companies that transactions were made during the time we were at the baby shower, at BT liquor, the Shell, and Shoppers drug mart spending around $200 of our money by using the Micro chips on the cards instead of a pin or signature. which led me to believe these people were on foot as these place they went to was up the hill from the park. The concern I have is this park was very busy lots of people around and absolutely no security, no cameras, no police on bikes. I unfortunately will never return to this park again knowing that it very easy for people to break in and get away. I warn people to either take all belongings with you or don't go, our car was locked, and our stuff was still not safe. And also just a piece of advise please deactivate your taps on your cards especially Your credit cards, if it gets stolen they don't need your pin or your signature. If your with TD Canada Trust they unfortunately do not do this and it may be time to switch banks to a...
Read moreEspecially this summer, this is a true wild park. So much pure nature. No pavement at all up top, just grass, trees, bushes, dirt and an astounding array of wild flowers including the iconic Al ett provincial wild rose. You can always find a solitary path or meet many friendly people and their pets up top in the off leash area. Can get busy with dog walkers and their large packs about 1030am. Caution in rainy or snowy weather hills with muddy paths get slippery. The more manicured lower park area has booked sites and a few first come first served spaces. Several play ground areas down there too. Access to river side walking paths on both sides of the river. Last but certainly not least, great river access area for wading and non motorized river craft. Parking lots all around the park up top and below and on both sides of the river. Please take care of this gift of land if you go and leave it better than...
Read moreSuch a great place to drop by for a visit. Numerous playgrounds for the kids, accessible pathways are mostly paved but there's a few places to wander off into the trees if you want to. The river is lovely and the ice cream shop across the river (there is a foot bridge) is a bonus.
It's not exactly a quiet nature sanctuary with heavy traffic across the river, a steady flow of people (mostly dog walkers, joggers, bikes), plus the ocassional freight train crossing through the park but it's still a pretty park to escape to from the "concrete jungle." It's large and ties into the even larger pathway system along the river. I haven't explored it all but appreciate having it as a place to get away, close to my home.
Drive slow and take care on the very windy road entering the park. Besides blind corners, there's frequent pedestrians, bikes, and deer (or other wildlife)...
