Everything here started out great. Ethan was so helpful upon check-in and even called to see how I was doing in my room. That was genuine and I appreciated that. I really wanted to like this place and come back. Sadly at night this place becomes super loud and it is hard to go to sleep. When I finally got some rest it seems the housekeepers wanted me out of the room before 11 AM. They started in the room above me stomping around, slamming stuff, moving tables around and talking extremely loud. I knocked on the ceiling and said something to them multiple times and the noise only got louder. I was packing my stuff up and around 11:03 the front desk called my room to tell me I need to get out. Before he could start I basically stopped him letting him know that I am leaving and the issue about housekeeping. I told him how the housekeepers have been extremely loud for two hours and that they were doing this on purpose. Also, they had left the vacuum running for ten minutes when they were not even in the room is why I say they did this on purpose. I could see they want to leave early so getting the rooms done faster will enable that. Sadly this ruined my stay. The front desk guy came to my room very condescending about how I could stay a few minutes longer but I needed to request that ahead of time. Maybe when a guest is upset it's not a good idea to be smart and rude to them. This does not help the situation at all. I normally leave a tip but these housekeepers ruined that. Ethan thank you so much and I'm sorry I had to leave this review after you were so helpful. The other staff need to take lessons from you and maybe you can make this motel the place I was expecting it to be. Sadly I will not be back to see it though. Also as I was pulling out the housekeepers were out smoking as I was leaving and giving me this evil looks. I'm not sure where these people are trained but it obviously needs...
Read moreThis will have been my 2nd time staying with Centro Motel. Upon arriving, the staff were extremely kind and helpful. We checked in closer to 10pm, and that didn't change how we were treated by staff, same great attitude!
The rooms are updated and really give off a luxury feel. Everything was clean and comfy. The duvet was really nice and they give you these very nice soft white robes to use during your stay. I really like how they want to minimize their impact on the environment through water usage and updated eco toilets. What I thought was very neat and something that I've never seen before is that they give you older/ripped(they've been cleaned and sanitized) face towls to use as you need to clean up makeup/messes etc that could stain the white regular face cloths. This prevents you from having to pay a cleaning fee and that you're encouraged to ask management for more as you need them. Personally, I love the idea, and it's nice to see them reusing items that normally would just be thrown away.
I do wish that the air conditioning system could make the room cooler. We had a hard time sleeping because my partner and I like a cold room to sleep in. We would have opened up our window to let fresh air in but there were guests outside our window until around midnight. The plumbing is a bit loud but the building itself is a bit older so to be expected.
Overall I'll be using Centro Motel again in the future. I have friends and family in Calgary so it's nice to have a reliable place to stay that won't...
Read moreWhat a wonderful gem of a place! I very much enjoyed the quiet and peaceful 2 nights sleep I got from staying here.
Pillows and bed were comfortable, room was clean, strong water pressure in the shower were just what I needed to relax. The place is well maintained, and the welcome letter I found in my room added a personable approach.
The room's layout made my stay even more pleasant as it allowed me to place my items without feeling cluttered or tight (work desk and comfortable chair, clothes hangers, small fridge/freezer).
First night I arrived was a warm Calgary day but opening the windows cooled and vented the room significantly-- didn't need to use the aircon unit during both nights of my stay (last of May/first week of June).
Having arrived late my first night, I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood at midnight and felt very safe.
Being near the main road and its location allowed me to take the bus downtown and drive around in a car. The relaxing hum of the road traffic disappeared when I closed my window. There are also nice places to eat within a few minutes walking distance.
While a friend suggested this place, I still called around other places. The brief and pleasant exchange I had over the phone with the front office staff, convinced me to stay here.
Checking in/out was also a pleasant experience. Very glad I stayed here.
Sending you all continued success and definitelt will...
