Loved this Cottage. My family and I had stumbled across this historic site by accident. I never knew that this cottage existed. You first start out by watching a 10 minute film at the gift shop. Then you walk down to the cottage and take a guided tour. The house was simply beautiful and had much character. Unfortunately I couldn't give the cottage a 5 star because our tour guide continued to throw "shots" and "low blows" at America and Americans. I felt like the guide talked more about America and how bad it was as opposed to the actual facts about the house. I felt nervous to ask any questions because I was afraid she may say something rude to me since I was American. The energy of the tour group gave nervous. I'd like to come back one day and give this house another try. Over all I would recommend you stop and tour the home because its so historical hopefully your guide gives more information...
Read moreA fantastic visit. Staff is extremely helpful and does a great job providing information. Tours are great and informative with tours leaving every 15 minutes. We were there during the shoulder season, so it was not too crowded.
Be advised that the island is on Atlantic time. Our phones did not switch over from Eastern until we were further north on the Island so pay close attention if you are attending events at a specific time. There are clocks in the visitor center if you need to acclimate.
The gift shop has a great selection of books on the Roosevelt...

It is the world's only international park The Roosevelt's never put in electricity or telephones. It was quiet and pristine. Today the park has electricity and flush toilets....
