It’s a beautiful place. We were enjoying it till one of the lady monks ruined my mood. kept torturing me about I am not paying attention to my kids. We understand it’s a worship place and she is trying to protect things there. But my 5 year old is smart and understand how to be gentle and despite of that she was ungrateful and kept holding her hand to forcefully do it her way to our water on one of their kid goddess. She is telling me to explain her what’s written on it why we pour water so your daughter knows even my two year old kid. I was like ok sure. She dosent leave my side at all and kept nagging me for every little thing. Where did your daughter get the stone tell her she has stolen it and karma will get her. Hearing this I was getting so pissed off I had to scream to my husband come quickly and grab one of our kid. He was talking to one of the monks about their history. Then my younger one was only waking around and she had problem with that too. To the point where she said ok you and your kid leave please get out of this place because you can’t hold your daughter. Then I lost my patience and I said this to my husband in Hindi and I tried to said in English too that listen what is this lady saying about me and our kid. So rude and so disrespectful. Being a monk you have no idea that kids are innocent and they deserve to worship and explore more than adults because you itself are worshiping one of your kid goddes in there. Even the cafeteria lady was not nice when she saw my kids wanted to be picked up to see what kind of cookies and cakes they have so they can decide. But she pointed to one of his guy co worker to do not give them this cake let them leave. I was shocked. I would have teach that lady monk a lesson if my husband wouldn’t have grabbed my hand to let it go. Then in car my husband was crying to not stand for me and kids. I was feeling so ashamed while coming back and they made my kids cry for no reason. These people over here need to understand they are in Canada not in China. Learn to respect other people kids as they being innocent and they weren’t doing anything but joining their hands nonstop to pray and trying to pour the water 😢. I recommend this place people working there very Des respectful and no manners. That lady was on my head repeating one thing several times. She said my kid is going to get karma right, I wish she gets...
Read moreThis place sure is one the best places to visit with the beautiful scenarios, very open space and peacefulness and calming feeling you feel just being there. Until, you get discriminated against on the basis of your race by the staff working at the art gallery section. Every area we visited had free entry and obviously we did pay for parking but that is okay. However, when we tried getting into this art gallery section the Asian lady at the door stopped us saying the entry fee was 10 dollars per group. We were ready to pay it thinking they do have to maintain the place and it was also the only place they asked to pay for entry. But, to our surprise one Asian family tried to get in and this door lady stopped them at first and asked for 10 dollars as well but then they started talking about something in Chinese while that family kept slowly pushing her to get inside the hall and eventually she let them in. Some might think the family had already purchased a ticket but the door lady forgot about it but based on how they interacted and the family didn't even show tickets to that door lady it was completely unethical for her to let them in while she strictly stopped every other person asking for 10 dollars and It wasn't even a heated debates they both were smiling and the family weren't even aggressive on her but she just smiled and let them in. I did see her calling some people who were already inside the hall's door but this lady called people back in a very rude voice asking for money.
We went to Wutai to find peace and blessings, but this lady really ruined it.
Hope, Wutai Shan Buddhist garden management trains their staff well enough. Just from one poor behavior of your staff just ruins the whole image of your place. I am not against you charging money to visit certain areas as those places might need extra attention and extra care but make sure to choose either you wanna charge equally to everyone or don't...
Read moreOur family visited Cham Shan Temple (Bayview) for many years and every time we visit, we donate money so that the same organizer can build this new Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden, after 30+ years of donations, it's very nice to see this new property into fruition. Although there are still many buildings under construction, the main temple and the main area are now ready for visitors.
It's very cool to see all demographcis and ethnicities came for visit, it's not just Chinese people but many other cultural people who shares similar Buddhist Religion, it feels good we all live in harmony and respecting each other religious beliefs.
This property is huge, the entrance is wide and many concrete poles and you will see the laughing buddha. And there are many stations that house the golden statue.
There are plenty of parking lots from P1/P2/P3/P4, during our visit, it's free parking but seeing there is a gated parking pole and a parking collection machine in the main temple, I could foresee being a paid parking in the near future.
There are lots of walking and you will need to park, visit the laughing buddha and then grab your vehicle and then drive along the route to the main temple that has more parking spots. Just drive slowly and not rev your vehicles to respect the peace and quiet of this place.
It's very peaceful with a nice lookout from the top of the main temple. There are a cafe that sells tea, snacks such as cake. There are portable potties as washroom for now as the main washrooms don't have running water to flush the toilet or wash your hands.
Please be quiet and respectful of the monks doing their services. This is not a place to fool around or laugh so loud, please be mindful and be respectful.
This Wutai Shan is definitely worth a visit and it's truly a sensational property with nature and for mental wellness.
Whether you are buddhist or not, it's still fascinating of the architecture and history...
