I do not think the public realizes just how amazing it is that we have an intricate trail system, river, wildlife, and beautiful tree canopy in which to walk, bike, jog, or run so close to the City. There are hidden streams, ponds, and other items to explore and learn about. You can get close to the river. You can go in it. Do watch for bears though. You could easily spend a half day hiking and walking down one side of the river, cross over, and walk up the other side. If there is one thing i would offer as a criticism is that I wish the City would update the educational signs and maps found throughout the park. Some are very old and out of date; others just need sprucing up from years of neglect and/or abuse. But otherwise, the whole Coquitlam River Park should...

Love this park! Lots of trails to walk along, not too many people or animals, and it’s so close to the city centre of Coquitlam but feels like you’re miles away in a relaxing setting breathing fresh air. Follow the sound of the stream of rushing water from the Coquitlam River as you let your mind forget all the problems in your life, at least for a short while. There are a few maps throughout, but google maps is pretty accurate on where the trails are.

There are small lots to park at and also on street parking throughout the neighbourhood. You can find benches throughout the park and bear-proof garbage cans too. There are bear warnings throughout the park,...

Summary: Along the river, there are a number of nice spots to get your camping chairs set up and play in the water. The water is shallow and safe to bring kids as well. I see tons of families and friends hanging out under the sun and the shade. The river right by the Lion’s Park has definitely been my favorite water/chilling spot over the summer.

Parking: You can find free parking at the Lion’s Park parking lot. If it has no space, you can try parking in front of 2342 Elgin Avenue; there is a public parking space.

Bathroom: There is a public bathroom in the Lion’s park. It’s usually walkable distance from where we set...

This is such a nice place to spend a few hours walking with nature, if you like the sounds of the river rushing by, the various types of birds singing while perched high and low, squirrels chattering at you, or during certain times of the year the occasional dear or bear then I highly recommend coming and checking this awesome trail walk out. If you are lucky, you may even see a Newt crawling along an old stump along the trail......good luck and remember "It's nature and is to be left the way you found it"
