This is a great neighbourhood fruit and vegetable market, located where the old Austin Heights Diner used to be. I’ve been shopping here for several years and consistently have a positive experience with the food.
It’s comparable to Kin’s Farm Market or Granville Island, but with even more variety. Alongside fresh produce, they carry meats, canned goods, beans, pasta, sauces, crackers, and cookies. Many fruits and vegetables come from the Okanagan, with others sourced from Mexico and China. Some items are strictly seasonal, which keeps the selection fresh and interesting.
The quality and value are excellent, especially for fruits and vegetables. The store can feel a little crowded at times, but that’s a reflection of how popular it is, and highlights the ongoing need for more small, independent produce markets in the area. I don’t often use the meat or deli section, but it’s good too.
They also offer a great selection of Asian and Latino vegetables and herbs. Like pea shoots, bokchoy, Thai basil, tom yum ingredients, bitter melon, edible beavertail cactus, prickly pears, lemon grass, and long beans: all which can be hard to find elsewhere nearby.
There’s a small dairy section with milk and milk alternatives, including cow, goat, oat, almond, and soy milk.
I’m genuinely grateful to have this store within walking distance, or just a quick ride by car or transit (close to the 152 and 156 bus stops).
Why 4 stars instead of 5?
Some of the younger or newer staff tend to rush you at checkout or come across as cold or rude. Even if you say “Good morning,” “Happy Canada Day,” or compliment the store or produce, they often don’t respond almost as if they’re unfamiliar with basic Canadian etiquette. As a regular, the complete silence can feel confusing or a bit off-putting. I try to laugh it off, but I’ve noticed others mention it in reviews too, and I think it’s a fair critique and an easy fix that would make a big difference.
By contrast, most of the older staff and older cashiers are VERY friendly and polite, just as you’d hope. They recognize regulars, greet you warmly, and always offer bags or boxes. Night and day difference in customer service.
Another thing worth mentioning: the designated disabled parking spot is located too far from the entrance, which is at the back of the property. This makes access difficult for seniors, those using mobility aids, or anyone with a disabled parking permit.
Inside, the store’s checkout area and aisles are often too narrow for baby strollers or wheelchairs, which can make navigating the space frustrating for parents and caregivers.
The bike rack at the back is also in an awkward. When the area is busy or dark, it’s easy for drivers to overlook, and it can feel unsafe or uncomfortable to load or lock up: especially for those with e-scooters or e-bikes. Moving it slightly or marking it clearly with paint would help a lot.
Morning is definitely the best time to shop. It tends to get much busier after lunch or throughout the weekend.

Read moreIt was my go to grocery store but no more. I don’t feel safe to go there.
I was there just waiting to cash out. And this Caucasian male touched my behind when he passing me. So I immediately told the cashier and she laughed at me. I kept repeating myself but she gave me a look and not doing anything. She even told me “it’s ok” with smile. It is not ok someone touching your body like that.
By the time she started calling her manager, he already left the store. The manager came and listened what I just had to experience. He told me that it might be accident. Yes it might be but I felt uncomfortable with the situation so I brought this up. I left the store because the manager told me that they will check the camera.
Waited a few hours, nobody followed up with me so my husband called the store. We talked with the store manager and surprisingly he did not know any of this incident at his store. That made us more upset but I appreciate that the manager check the camera immediately and sent us a video. The manager told us that it was accident, probably bag or something touched my body. But if you see the video, you can’t say that. From the video, we couldn’t see what exactly happened. But it definitely showed something happened from my reaction...
Read moreWide variety of options for what looks like a small store. Produce is good quality and vegetables are decent prices. One of the best local places for some of the common "Asian" vegetables (many of them are locally grown), and meats are good sizes and often a good price for pork and chicken in particular. So much variety in other areas: sauces and spices and bits and pieces of meals with a really good selection of Korean and Chinese sauces and some representation for Japanese elements. But you'll be surprised what you'll find here: really good pastas from Italy, instant coffee from Switzerland, a good selection of different breads, a bunch of choices of olive oils, some unique soda pops, Asian and European along with more typical snacks that you find at other local stores. At least five different types of sardines, a wall of pickles and similar things... Bonito flakes, pork spleen, cookies from the Netherlands and chocolate from Germany. If you enjoy looking for treasures, spend some time really looking at the shelves and you will probably find something new and...
