Mystery Lake Trail is a short but rewarding hike at Mount Seymour, perfect for a summer day. The trail is just over 3 km round trip, with a steady uphill climb at the start, but nothing too challenging for most hikers. You’re quickly rewarded with a beautiful alpine lake surrounded by evergreens, perfect for a refreshing swim or picnic. The water is crystal clear but chilly, and the area feels peaceful despite being close to the city. Best to go on a clear day for the views, and get there early in summer as parking can fill up fast. Overall, a great quick escape into nature.

The name was apt – it truly was a mystery hidden in the snow! We did the hike since the Dog Mountain trail was closed. Loved the snow-covered trails, which added a bit of adventure to the experience. The lake was frozen, with a few blue puddles around the edges. With only a few clouds in the sky, the blue water looked magical. I’d love to go again before summer truly begins.

Great place to cool off during hot summer! we took a trail to the top (one of them) and then took some time to relax at and in the lake. Good times! I recommend water shoes for going into the lake.
