A very direct route to the bottom of "The Cut" ski run on Grouse Mountain. You can see the remnants of the old chairlift that ran up from skyline drive before the Blue & Red Skyrides were built. There is also the remains of a US Airforce F-86 Sabre Jet crash that happened in 1954 just east of the trail approximately ⅔ of the ascent. "The Cut" offers great views of the city, but it can get very hot hiking in direct sunlight, if so, head west into the forest & link up with the Simic or BCMC trails.

Went on this trail on a sunny weekend. The views on the ski run are gorgeous. At the end of ski run, the trail turns into dense forest, filled with pebbles and rocks, and becomes slippery. I think the scenery on the ski run is quite rewarding, but the forest section is too slippery for my knees.

Leaving from near the top of Skyline Road, this is a challenging, but rewarding hike! Lots of small rocks on a narrow steep vertical trail. Dry weather is recommended as there are steep dirt sections with minimal rock footholds. Most of the trail is under the cover of overhead trees. Make sure to wear ankle supporting boots with good treads. This trail is like climbing up a building with 225 floors - not necessarily for casual hikers, unless you are in reasonably good cardio condition. Going up is tough on the quads and glutes. Coming down is challenging on the knees and you need to make good foot holds or end up on your butt. In August you'll find wild salmonberries near the top of the trail, which is the bottom of The Cut ski run. When you come to The Cut, its another few hundred vertical over open, rocky grass fields to the chalet, where a cold beer awaits you. GREAT place to take a picture of Vancouver and on a good day you can see to Vancouver Island. One option at the end is taking the Grouse Mtn. tram down, but be warned it will cost you $15 (2019). By the way NO DOGS ALLOWED on Grouse Mountain but we brought our dog up and they were ok as long as you stay away from the bear enclosure. No dogs are allowed on the tram, so you must hike both up and down if you...

It was actually the LGMH trail which I scoped out after doing my usual Frome mountain loop and hiking down peer-gynt and connecting onto dreamweaver, heading West up and across the very treacherous boardwalk bridge. Part of this bridge has cave in and you have to climb over a large stump to reach the trail on the other side. These trials are NOT for the casual weekend hikers and are posted as HAZARDOUS!! For good reason. You hike through some beautiful old growth forests sections. But weather you hike it from the Frome mountain side or the Grouse mountain side it is...
