I love going to Blackstrap- so many outdoor activities. I gave hiked here with my family, my dogs and on my own. We have visited friends at their campsite and enjoyed the view while having a BBQ. I have taken my kids to the beach and had a picnic! Everytime I am here I have great memories and photos to show! The sunsets and rises are AMAZING. It does get windy, so dress for the weather with extras. Busyness depends on the weather and the season. Summer has vendors that sell ice cream and drinks. There are fireworks for Canada Day. I recommend people take a day to spend enjoying the nature and environment.

We visited Blackstrap Lake today Sep 18, & wow it is so much better than expected. Less than an hour drive from Saskatoon. There are plenty of picnic area, very well maintained. It was not busy. The lake water is clean. It was just cold for me to swim, if it was not windy I would have. The picnic area is very private, mostly surrounded by small trees. We truly enjoyed this place, so much better than Pike Lake. I wash my hands & smelled the water to see if it is smelly but I did not smell anything. We will definitely go back.

Blackstrap Lake is a beautiful spot with great views and peaceful surroundings. It’s perfect for a quiet day out, but it can feel a bit dull as not many people visit. The place has so much potential! It would be great if the government could add some engaging features—like water games, family zones, or kids’ activities—to make it more lively and appealing for everyone. A hidden gem that just needs a little spark to truly shine.

We live in Saskatoon and sometimes just want a quick little weekend camp get away. Out of the closest options (pike & blackstrap) we always choose blackstrap. Even for just a lake day. To start, I hate swimming in lakes. A ‘lake phobia’ if you will. I will take my family & the kids will jump in any type of water no problem, but There are very few I will walk into, and Blackstrap happens to be one of them I will step into. The water does not stink, does not leave a green slim on your skin, and so far none of us have had a leech… so there’s a bonus! The beaches and bathrooms are always clean, and give a comfortable family atmosphere. As for camping, there’s many spots to choose from. Now the only reason they lost a star from me, is because when camping, you basically have to choose: power or tree shade. In the more private areas covered with trees there’s no power, and up in the section with power; they are open spots and give no privacy at all. However each time we go we still make the best of it and enjoy our time. Lastly, EVERYTIME we go, we encounter positive friendly staff and they’re always helpful as well. I definitely suggest this park when other people ask where to go for a day or a...

Came camping at blackstrap (sunset ridge campgrounds) with my family. Really sucks there are no trees for shade (it was 40 degrees the weekend we went). We were told their were some pet friendly beaches, etc. and there are not. We took our dog to one of the beaches close to our site (not close to walk though) and it had signs to not have dogs on the beach. Ok, so the sand area. Nope. We got asked to keep our dog in the parking lot. How inconvenient. Maybe put your signs before the grass area if you plan to keep dogs off it. Not ideal. My husband had to stand in the parking lot while I sat with my two kids alone while they played in the sand. Not a great family trip. I would not ever come back and would...
