Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens — Attraction in Grand-Métis

My sister and I were vacationing and decided to stop for lunch at the highly rated Cafe. I made a reservation in transit and we arrived on time and were greeted at the reception area by a very friendly young lady. We then attempted to find the Cafe which was extremely difficult to do as there was no signage and after asking staff twice, we went inside the Cafe and were greeted by a very surly young lady who appeared to be very unhappy to see us. She was perfectly bilingual. She was extremely curt and unwelcoming and sarcastic with us. We ordered our food and when we went up to pick it up and said “thank you,” she said nothing. The food was pathetic. It was 2 Tostito shells with a few tiny shrimp and a splattering of salad dressing for $15. It was tasteless and a total ripoff. We were so looking forward to this lunch of alleged “local” ingredients. What a disappointment. Beautiful garden and structures made by artists from all over the world. Makes you travel through theme gardens from the azalea, to the royal alley and forest areas, all accessible by wheel chair which are also available to rent when you come for a visit if need be. Restaurant has a good menu and plenty of places on site to sit and meditate or contemplate. Would definetly recommend the detour followed by a drive in the village de metis. Gorgeous botanical gardens to visit. The landscaping is impeccable. But it does depend on when you visit and the amount of flowering and lushness is heavily weather-dependent, just like any botanical gardens. I have visited this place on a couple of occasions both around the same time of the year. The first time it knocked my socks off. the second time, eh.
