Hawrelak Park Pond Ice — Attraction in Greater Strathcona

Great place for outdoor skating. Nice indoor building to change into your skates with washroom facilities. The building also has a restaurant Red Table. The setting is wonderful, in Harwelak Park. In the spring and summer, it's a pretty nice place to have a picnic or barbecue. Lots of geese hang around the area though so just watch where you walk and sit. Probably the biggest outdoor skating rink in Edmonton. It's really nice to skate around and feel connected to the nature around you. There is a snack bar on the edge of the pond that also offers skate rentals, sharpening, and washrooms. The ice itself is decent but you must look out for cracks while skating or you'll trip.
