Together with my husband, and four other friends we went to Hawthorn cabins and cottages to spend July 1st weekend and we had a great time. We enjoyed everything there; from paddle boats to fishing to fireworks. We were told they have their own fireworks every year on Canada day. The cabins are so nice and well kept. Each cabin have their own fridge, table, dishes, coffee maker, microwave etc…they also have their own bbq grill. I so loved the way the decorate the gardens, I loved the beautiful flowers and ferns, the squirrels and the cute little chipmunks running all over the yard. In a whole i love everything that has to do with nature. The views you get at Hawthorn is amazing especially the view of lake Eugenia. There are two falls not far away. We went to see Eugenia falls and it is amazing. They also have convenience stores and other amenities close by. I can’t forget the owners and Brian was so nice with us. The prices of the cabins and cottages are very reasonable. They also have a little shop in their office and it’s stocked with almost everything that you need it’s very convenient incase you forgot some stuff. We definitely want to go back to this amazing place. I highly recommend it to people who love nature and tranquility. Or who just want a nice spot for a get away from...

Situated on the shore of Lake Eugenia, this hidden gem is a family run establishment who makes you feel like long time friends from the moment you arrive.

We were impressed with the well manicured grounds and the view of Lake Eugenia was breath taking. We stayed in cottage 3. The cottage was charming and rustic and well decorated. Pride of ownership was apparent from the tidy cupboards stocked with your household essentials to the fresh smelling linens on the bed in each room. The fridge and stove were immaculately clean.

The large deck provided the perfect setting for dinner as well as having a beautiful bbq to cook your favourite meal.

Everything you needed was available at the cute store. Firewood, ice, candy for the kids and other camping essentials. Lots of fun was to be had at the waters edge. From paddle boats and kayaks to canoes and motorized boats.

A short 15 min ride brings you to town where you can find everything from grocery stores and pharmacies to cute little shops and cafes.

As a side note - we were there over the July 1st holiday and the owners decorated tastefully with Canada day decor and put on a fireworks display that most certainly must have cost a lot of money.

Choosing this family run resort for our next holiday is a...

We just had a wonderful stay at Hawthorn Cottages!! We stayed in Bunkie 1 that had a beautiful view of Lake Eugenia! There were so many amenities and water crafts that were available to us to use. We also had a blast fishing. Brian, the owner, was so kind, accommodating and patient! We had such a great stay here and we would definitely stay here again. There was a lot of beautiful wildlife and I was able to get amazing pictures of the landscape, nature and animals. Absolutely loved the peacefulness and serenity that this place brought!

Thank you Jayne and Brian for a wonderful week away at Hawthorne Cottages and Cabins. Our family vacation was amazing. The grounds and beach look great and are well maintained. The cottages and facilities are very clean, organized and welcoming. We loved spending time at the beach, playing horseshoes, BBQing, camp fires and the sunsets. Thank you again for your hospitality and helping us create wonderful family memories. We look forward to seeing you next summer. The Sparkes family.

I didn’t stay here but rented the kayaks/canoes for 2 hours as a visitor in September 2023. The guy at the reception/store is easygoing and the prices are very reasonable. Eugenia Lake is a great place to kayak in fall – big enough to have some waves and different corners to explore, but also small enough that you can go around in 2 or 3 hours. There are enough trees around the lake to make you feel like you’re in Muskoka when you’re actually much closer to the hinterland.
