We just stayed there this past weekend for our honeymoon in cabin #8 and the moment I walked in and smelled that cottage smell that I haven’t smelled since I was very young, I fell in love with the place. It was cozy little cabin which I posted pics of. Our first night there we tried to have a campfire but the wood that you have to purchase from them because you’re not allowed to bring your own, wouldn’t stay lit. We kept having to fan it to keep it going so it wasn’t the relaxing sit around the campfire and have a few drinks like I had hoped. There was also a large group across from us that partied until the wee hours of the morning so the 10pm-10am quiet time was not enforced, so again we couldn’t enjoy a quiet peaceful night around the fire. The beds in our room were a queen which had a really hard mattress but the double in the other room was softer but difficult to get in and out of because there was only an inch or 2 between the bed and the wall. I couldn’t sleep on the hard queen bed with my new husband because it hurt my back. And the double was too small for both of us to fit in comfortably so I didn’t even get to share a bed with my husband on our honeymoon. I initial tried sleeping in the recliner next to his room but it was so loud when you got in and out of it, like a loud BANG when you went pulled the handle. Unfortunately it was too cold and windy to use the pool which was very clear or use any of the canoes, peddle boats or kayaks by no fault of the owners, obviously. But the one thing I found very strange is you have to do the housekeeping, dishes and take your garbage out before you leave or they will charge you extra. I’ve stayed at cheaper places and never had to clean my room before I leave. That’s part of the reason you go away on vacation is to get a break from cooking and cleaning. There is no restaurant on site so you have to drive to get meals but the 2 places we found had AMAZING food and wonderful service. There are a few site seeing places close by but not worth the cost to go see the Eugenia waterfall when you can’t even get close to it and the Beaver Valley Lookout was blocked by trees. But the cabin was fully stocked with fridge, stove, microwave, bbq, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, kettle and old style coffee maker where you use filters and tin coffee, we brought pods assuming the coffee maker would be the newer style. This would be a great place for families with kids or party goers but not if you want to enjoy the peace and quiet, guess I should’ve booked a more private cabin. But we did manage to enjoy our time together and I got to fall in love with my husband all over again after being together for 8 years prior to getting married. It is a beautiful place and in a nice area and the grounds are...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here in May 2021. Cedars Resort did not disappoint! The cabins and chalets have been refreshed, and furniture and decor have been updated. The new owners (as of June 2020) have taken great care to ensure that all cabins are well equipped with more than the basic necessities in the kitchen, bedrooms, and living space. Even the firewood is top notch - dry, and long burning. Our cabin was quaint and comfortable, with a great view of Lake Eugenia, a private deck, fire pit, bbq, dock, and access to the water. We made use of the pedal boats (canoes and pedal boats are included in the cabin rental), and the owners directed us to nearby scenic hiking trails. The resort is clean and well maintained, offering the feel of "up north" without the drive. The owners are friendly and welcoming, and clearly want all guests to have a relaxing and memorable experience. We are already making plans to return with our children, and have another getaway for just the two of us. We can't wait...
Read moreLots of privacy. Clean but there are lots of dead bugs in windows but None inside the cabin. The lake is beautiful. Wonderful sunsets. Very shallow water. Locals are really nice. Lots to do - hiking, swimming at the cottage lake and the town, peddle and other types of boating. No black flies but bring thermacell for mosquitoes. The pool was out of service which was a huge bummer bc I have small kids who wanted to use pool toys. I’d consider returning anyway.
Great nature experience. Lush and green surroundings. We heard coyotes and wolves far in the distance. Frogs, various birds, and woodland creatures at Eugenia falls. Oh and the Stars. So bright. So clear in the sky. Makes a stunning view overlooking the water.
I was able to find a fishing spot at the nearby dam. Within 1 hour of being there we caught multiple small to medium sized fish. If we do come back, I’m staying for a longer visit, if possible. 1 week was not...
