NIKU Farms — Attraction in Hornepayne Township

I can't describe how happy we are after discovering NIKU farms.

The flavor: as a meat lover and 3-times-a-day-protein consumer, I can tell that the flavor is totally different from the regular meat you get from Walmart or other supermarkets. Huge difference! I recommend their chicken breast and ground beef. So tasty and tender! Eating was never so delicious than now ordering from NIKU.

The price: I recommend trying to optimize your spend by purchasing the combos that they offer, that way it won't be that pricey when you compare it with meat from the supermarket. Additionally, my wife and I believe that it's better to pay a little more now, than facing health issues or having to spend in treatments in the future. Additionally, you help the environment and your money doesn't go to the broken system.

Service: The staff at NIKU has provided an outstanding service since we joined. They send reminders, notify when something is stocked out (rarely imo), account issues and other types of support. They're so polite and friendly.

I have a huge admiration for what these people do. I don't see ourselves going back to the broken system. Why would we sacrifice our health, the awesome flavor, the comfort of getting the best possible meat at your doorstep and give our money to the broken system? I don't think so.

Thank you NIKU farms, you have changed a lot more than our diet.

The only issue that I see is the website. I think an app would be better and it needs to be more friendly and provide more info about pricing upfront. I am still trying to see where the option is to order veggies and...

I’ve had a subscription with NIKU since fall 2020. I’m very pleased with the quality of the meat and fish. Their customer service is incredible. I’ve been able to pause a box at the very last minute when needed. I have found that my partner and I aren’t getting through a full box every month (we eat vegetarian meals 1-2x/day) and they offered to set us up with billing/notifications for every second month so our freezer doesn’t get too full! They’ve also just started offering the ability to get fish and meat in the same box which is likely what we will start doing. I’ve mostly ordered from Marita Fields because they offer a variety of meats. We order mainly ground meat (chicken, beef, pork), chicken breast and frozen fish. The ground meat is ground small and quite lean so I followed the included recommendations on how to cook it and it’s delicious every time. The chicken breasts are massive and have a good consistency when cooked. When defrosted the fish was very fresh in both scent and consistency (ie it didn’t smell like fish at all) and when baked or pan-fried it just melts in your mouth. We bought the fish burgers but realized we don’t eat burgers much so are saving them for post-covid times when we can host friends for a bbq. We have yet to make the short ribs or steak (again waiting for the bbq season). The delivery packaging works well and the meat/fish has been completely frozen at every delivery even if I don’t get home until late. Highly recommend giving them a shot! I’ve only needed to buy meat/fish products like bacon and tinned tuna from the grocery store since...

EDIT JAN 13/2020 Issue was resolved by Jake who offered an explanation - the blue Mark was not mould but rather a stamp by the people handling the meat. I was offered a partial refund and am thankful for that. I think I will order from Blackview Farms vs Marita Farms as I find their meat more tasty. May just be a matter of preference though. Editing back up to 4 stars for great customer service.

—— EDIT JAN 11/2020 Editing this review down to 2 stars as I just received my package yesterday and there was mould on the T-bone steak. It was also packaged on August 19, 2019. This is unacceptable as I do not like the fact that my meat was in the freezer for five months before delivery, and when paying almost $400 for a package I expect it all to be fresh. Hoping they can resolve this issue promptly. ——-

Have had one delivery from them so far and the quality of the meat has been great! Cooked the stewing beef today and it is so much different from the store bought one which is tough and takes forever to cook. This stew beef was super tender after cooking for 45 min and delicious. The steak is also second to none. I found the burgers to be on the smaller side and the chicken legs are also pretty small so probably wouldn’t order those again. Yes it’s a bit pricey but worth it for meat that’s not pumped full of antibiotics and GMOs. I figure if I get a few shipments a month, that’s only half our grocery bill so it’s well worth it for my family. Took a star off for late delivery but was handled promptly and was able to speak to someone on the phone....
