This is the second time I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Barbara and her team! The first was a beautiful Bridgerton-inspired birthday picnic party and this time around it was a dreamy Marie Antoinette-inspired birthday celebration. I cannot thank Picnics in the 6ix and ByJoi events enough for making all of my dreams come true! If you want a custom-themed event second to none, this is your place to go! Barbara and her team don’t joke around. As soon as Barbara presented me with the mood board she came up with for my event this year, I was simply in love. I couldn’t contain my excitement. From selecting the most scenic and dreamy locations within the GTA to going above and beyond to making sure that she finds the exact items fitting your custom requests, Picnics in the 6ix transports you to another dream-like realm. As the source of my inspiration, we drew on Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film, ‘Marie Antoinette,’ starring Kirsten Dunst. I wanted an event organizer whom I was confident could transport us into the ridiculously excessive and luxurious world of Marie Antoinette. Who better to turn to after all than Barbara and her team? Barbara literally dedicated her time to watching the film and doing her research to understand the overall look and feel of what we were going for. She also went above and beyond to find pretty much all of my custom requests; everything from opera glasses dating back to the period, champagne coupe glasses, to feathers, fans and the whole works. We didn’t organize an event, it was as though we literally travelled back in time for a day. If you are looking for a beautiful event with a custom touch, Barbara and Picnics in the 6ix is where you should be looking because I can guarantee, you will not regret it. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the most enchanting floral picnic setup done by Barbara for my daughter’s birthday, and it was truly unforgettable. The attention to detail and the aesthetic appeal of the decorations were absolutely top-notch.

Theme and Ambiance: My theme for the picnic set up was pastel pinks and The use of pastel flowers in various shades and types made the entire setup come alive with color and fragrance. It felt like stepping into a beautifully curated botanical garden.

Then comes the Centrepieces: The candle centerpieces were a standout feature. Each table had a unique arrangement of candles surrounded by delicate floral rings.

My overall experience:

Every detail, from the flowers draped over picnic tables to the cutlery designed for the guests, was thoughtfully executed. The picnic carpet and cushions were not only comfortable but also complemented the floral theme beautifully. The combination of these elements made for a picture-perfect setting that was both elegant and welcoming.

It was a perfect blend of nature and sophistication, creating a joyful and memorable experience for everyone. The decorations played a crucial role in making the celebration special, and I would highly recommend Barbara for anyone looking to create a unique and enchanting birthday celebration. Like everyone out there having to postpone their wedding due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, my then-fiancé and I had to change our wedding plans numerous times. At the end we couldn't wait any longer so we decided to go ahead and get married. We no longer wanted to do something "big" and traditional so we ended up having just a small wedding ceremony for our family and friends outside; and then as our reception we went ahead and did a picnic just for our parents and our bridal party of 10. We found Barbra-Joi's beautiful business through Instagram and we would highly recommend her to host your most special day! Barbra-Joi was a dream to work with - I gave her my fall colour schemes and vision of what I'd like (romantic/boho vibes, etc.) and off she went... with her eye for design and styling coupled with her exquisite taste, our "picnic reception" blew us away. When I say all our jaws dropped when we walked over to the picnic site that would not be an understatement. Everything looked absolutely picture perfect. She thought of all the tiny details and went above and beyond what we expected! I will recommend her business over and over to everyone and anyone looking to host a special day to remember.
