The museum was still closed for the season, but getting ready to open soon. I had brought my mom up there to visit the area (she had not been up there since the early sixties when my dad was stationed at Lowther). The staff at the Welcome Center were super friendly and more than happy to show us a small portion of the museum artifacts that were out for display. If you happen to drive by Kapuskasing, take a few moments to stop by the train station museum.
Although it is not accessible to wheelchairs, it is very interesting. Depictions of life in the early 20th century and pictures give you a good idea of life back then.
The second caboose has a huge display of model trains that staff will explain in detail.
There are also beautiful little figurines and scenes in clay that show the life progression of the "olden days".
The museum is funded by donations.
