Alvento Winery — Attraction in Lincoln

We attend the Grape & Wine Festival every year and always enjoy the Discovery Pass experience—especially finding new wines to love. Unfortunately, our visit to Alvento was incredibly disappointing. At three other wineries that day, our passes were happily double-scanned, allowing us to make the most of the Discovery Pass. At Alvento, however, not one but three different staff members firmly told us it wasn’t allowed. The entire point of the Discovery Pass is discovery—and instead of hospitality, all we discovered here was an unwelcoming attitude. They didn’t offer an alternative, a simple “you can pay for the extra sample,” or any solution at all. When I tried to express that this completely missed the spirit of the Discovery Pass, I was told to “call the event coordinator.” That response only reinforced how unwelcome we felt. “Alvento” means “I’m the Wind” in Italian—and that’s exactly how the experience felt: cold and dismissive. My GF and I were planning a tasting day and looked at wineries that we haven't visited. We came across Alvento and noticed their 4.9⭐ review. We decided this could be a hidden gem. Well, this place is definitely a hidden gem. It honestly produces some of the best wines this region has to offer. The Austero Merlot is fabulous. I've tried many Merlots and I'm not a fan of Merlot. This is by far the best Merlot I've ever had. Had to buy a bottle to cellar. My GF tried the 2018 Sparkling Rose and after the first sip she immediately said she had to buy a bottle, messaged her friend and bought a bottle for her as well. As we were tasting we met the owner and chatted up a storm with him. He told us his background story and its wonderful. His customer service skills are great. He knows how to talk to people and knows how to treat people. If I could give more than 5⭐ I would. Will return to this winery many times in the future. Hands down one of the best little...

The last Friday I had my first wine tasting in your Winery, I have to let you know that was one of the best experiences I have ever had. You might think that it was because of the taste, quality and variety of wines that I had, but the real wine experience was given by our hostess, unfortunately I can not remember her name. Around 10:00 am my friend and myself arrived to Alvento Winery, a young lady welcomed us, it was a delightful experience, she is very knowledge about the background, history and process of the wine. She told us about the history of the wineries of Niagara, prohibition era, regulations, kind of soils, geographical requirements and locations.
