Rosewood used to be one of our top wineries to visit. We love the property, the wine is good, food is good. However our recent visit has turned what old have been a 5 star review into a 3 star review due to the hostess. Sadly I did not get her name. We showed up as a large party without a reservation. That part is fully our fault and we u derstand why we may not have been able to be seated. We had friends in from out of town and had started at a wi ery they wanted a try. A few of us had been to Rosewood a bunch of times and we hyped it up so much everyone decided we would like to go. When we arrived there was seating for 9 of us spread out, we needed 13. We were told we could take them and the others can wait. We said ok at first and then asked if the others could stand with us and were told no. Everyone had to have a chair. We then asked if we could pull a couple chairs from another table that were not being used (the tables we were offered were 4 person size tables with only 3 chairs). The reply we received from the hostess was, and I quote, "if you are thinking of it, I have already thought of it first". We saw another table that looked like they may be finishing up and we inquired about it to see of it would be free (assuming no one was i front of us since they were going to seat 9 of us now, makong it seem like there was no wait list)just to gain an idea of wait time for the other members of our party to be seated. We were told, in these words "just because you see it with your eyes, doesn't mean it is available". We said ok. During this interaction people came out from inside and were seated at one of the tables we had been offered. We understand due to us having a debate. Our issue was not that at all. It was the condescending tone in which the hostess took with us beging to end in the interaction. We were referred to Domaine Clos Jordanne next door and offered a wait lost. We did go next door, and had a lovely experience with absolutely fantastic service and wine. When we were finishing up we received the wait list call back and decided to give rosewood another chance because we u derstamd everyone gas a bad day. When we arrived back it was fairly empty and we were split into 2 tables. We asked if we could move them together and were met with the same condescension and told that our table of 13 would then be a table of 10. We said ok. The people seated at the ends in the middle then turned chairs sideways and were scolded that we can't due that because they need the surface are of the table in front of everyone for the wine and the staff needed to get through (not the case because they could not squeeze by the 2 back to back chairs). Once we started ordering the tone suddenly changed to very friendly at which point it was very disingenuous and clear that she was now only being nice for a tip. One of our members gave her a bit of the same attitude back we had previously been giving and she then started telling us how glad she was that she could make it work and get us seated because she really did want us there (could have fooled me) almost in a way that felt like she thought we should excuse her initial tone due to her making it work in the end. As mentioned, I did not get her name but she referenced being previously involved in the ownership of Cannon coffee on Ottawa Street. There was another staff member who was lovely and definitely is the reason there is a third star otherwise this may have ended up as a 1-2 star. She was a bit younger and was wearing khaki converse I believe she said she got at winners if this helps identify her as she was a delight and was a redeeming presence that makes us even...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with this winery and the people working here.
I came here with my sister and cousin for the Sunday of the August long weekend and arrived at 4:15 when they close at 5pm. We have never been to this winery before and were very excited to try it out. There was a larger group of 6 guests standing in front of us at the host stand. The girl that worked there found them a table and let them know they closed in 45 minutes. When she returned back to the host stand (very slowly might I add) she then said she wouldn't be able to seat us. She said they just had their last seating and even though there were open tables, she could not allow us to sit.
This is incredibly rude service considering we showed up at the exact same time as the table of 6 but were only walking right behind them. I love to support small local wineries and this is NOT the one.
Do NOT go here.
The girls are extremely rude, I go out to wineries and restaurants all the time and I have never received such poor service before, especially from a small winery (all other wineries in the area are so kind, cute, nice, go there instead). I could not believe the girl turned us away when they had 45 minutes left until closed, their main sign said they were open, and it also said kitchen was...
Read moreWow, wow, wow! You need to go visit this beautiful winery ASAP. I hadn’t gone for a visit in about 10 years and regret not going back sooner. They have completely renovated their space into a Sonomaesque setting - elevated, but accessible and homey.
My husband and I went recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary and took part in their Wine + Food Experience. We had a 3 course meal of seasonal farm-to-table creations from their scratch kitchen paired with their delectable wines, hand selected by their expert sommelier.
This experience was high-end and beyond worth what we paid ($60/person). With each course the sommelier presented the wine sharing not only about the wine itself, but the vineyards history and her exquisite personal experiences and suggestions for other local spots to visit. Each course, the sous chef accompanied and provided an in depth explanation on what we were able to enjoy. The food was not only mouth watering, but healthy, local and sustainable.
They truly have checked off all the boxes and more on this experience. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable! We certainly won’t be waiting long to come back and...
