Relaxing. Camp fire. Kids friendly on a sunny warm day.great for rock hunting on the beach. I visited in the afternoon to experience the afternoon campfire. We arrived at 8 pm and could count about 12 fire 🔥along the and more people were coming to get set up. There were kids playing around in the sand, families making smores, some were listening to there favourite music 🎶 and othe were jus relaxing at there Beach fire. If you are planning to have a beach fire get your firewoods, firestarter, smores, hotdogs, water, juice, chips and a few friends. The beach is pet-friendly and a great place to bring kids. This is a public space with trial and signage. In the evening or busy time you will often see safety personal in the parking lot and on the beach.

My visit to Middle Cove Beach in St. John’s was an absolute delight! Just a 10-minute drive from downtown, this stunning beach offers soft sand, rocky shores, and breathtaking Atlantic views. The atmosphere is perfect for families, with kids playing in the shallow waves and locals roasting marshmallows by fire pits at dusk. I was thrilled to witness the capelin roll in early summer, a unique Newfoundland experience! The beach is clean, with plenty of space for picnics and relaxing. The dramatic cliffs and crashing waves make it a photographer’s dream. Despite the chilly water, the vibrant scenery and friendly vibe make Middle Cove Beach a must-visit gem in St. John’s!

This is one of the favourite beaches for the east coasters. There are parking spots available, but they have been blocked due to the social distancing regulations since covid. Cars can now be parked along the road leading to the parking area. On a nice warm day, it usually bustles with families and hikers starting off on the Silver Mine head path. The black sand beach has spread out pebbles and can be a nice spot for a light picnic. There is a waterfalls which freezes during peak winters. The frozen waterfalls can be reached by a short walk along the right side of the beach.

Beautiful spot during any season! The East coast trail is right next to the beach, and that will take you on a moderate hike to Torbay with great scenic views and places to stop and sit along the way. You can have a beach fire, and there is usually leftover firepits from previous people. Pack a picnic, prepare for a hike, chase the waves, catch capelin or simply let the kids play on the beach (of rocks, not sand). There is free parking also.

Middle Cove Beach: A Rocky Gem Middle Cove Beach is a unique coastal experience, offering stunning ocean views and a rugged, rocky shoreline. While it's not a traditional sandy beach, its charm lies in its natural beauty and the opportunity to explore tide pools and collect sea glass. It's a great spot for hiking, picnicking, and enjoying the fresh sea air. Note: Swimming is not recommended due to strong currents and rocky conditions.

Beautiful beach located in Middle Cove, Nl. Families like to picnic here, bring a blanket as there are no picnic tables. (Even before covid). Snap a selfie with the Atlantic Ocean. My 11 year old loves jumping rocks/ playing in the freshwater stream. Great place to collect beach rocks. During whale season, bring a net and catch a feed of Caplin, as they roll in with the tide 🌊!
