I don't like to leave negative reviews for these type of businesses as I normally address any issues privately with management. In this case, Mercator was the exception and because management did not acknowledge my concern nor thank me for my recurring patronage I decided to give one star-more than they deserve.
My wife and I dropped by one afternoon for a couple of flights and our experience was very disappointing to say the least.
We normally visit Mercator on average every second or third week during the summer when we are in the area. Yesterday's experience has put us in the unfortunate position of reconsidering our future wine experience options.
To begin, when we arrived, two of the three young ladies behind the counter were very disinterested and left us with the feeling that our attempts to make conversation were of an inconvenience toward them. My wife and I ordered the "Experience" flight as we often do, the cheese portion was almost non-existent and contrary to what it had been in the past. The staff poured our flights and handed them to us over the counter without even taking a moment to explain which glasses contained which varieties.
We were taken aback when not one of the three staff offered to bring us our flights to a table outside even though we were the only customers in the boutique at that time. We were even more shocked when my wife and I struggled to open the patio door with full hands while the three staff members looked on.
When I went to pay for the wine my wife politely asked what was the name of the red wine we tasted and the three ladies completely dismissed her. The lady who took our payment (blonde lady with glasses) whom I believe had just arrived was very pleasant though. She was professional and answered our questions while thanking us for our patronage. The others did not acknowledge us. This left a bad taste in our mouths and we quietly left without purchasing any wine.
I sent an email to management and they never replied. Ungrateful they are, a mild yet accurate assertion to say the least. We will not...
Read moreI have done a couple winery tours in Wolfville but this was the first time visiting Mercator Vineyards. The building is beautiful and very tastefully and thoughtfully decorated. They have a beautiful area upstairs for larger groups. The only downfall was the amount of each pour at the tasting. The amount of wine given for each wine tasting was SO much less than every other winery we visited, it definitely wasn’t an ounce. It appeared to be more like 1/4 an ounce. It was so obvious that a number of people in our tour made a comment about it. I’m not sure if the staff member was just a new employee, as he had mentioned he was a student at a university in the area? I’m not sure.. but other than that, it was a great visit!! Shoutout to the staff member from Newfoundland.....
Read moreThis is our second time visiting Mercator and although I still love the place, I was a little disappointed after today's visit. It was around 3:30pm and we were looking forward to enjoying some cheese and wine in the vineyard however we were advised there was no cheese/food left as they ran out. We were also looking forward to the chocolate flight and seen many others enjoying them as well. Unfortunetely, by the time we were done our flights, they also ran out of chocolates too. I'm happy to see a place that busy, especially given the current environment, however, I feel they missed out on a lot more business chance to make more customers happy due possible to lack of planning. Either way, rating is great as we still love the place and...
