Great date spot! ;) saw many young couples! That’s awesomeness right there. Regarding the two minute line up rule though… sadly the most beautiful people / couples in the world will not respect the rule. Beautiful outside- nasty people inside by not abiding to that rule and making everyone else wait to take pictures on the swings and tractors. :( this rule is there but not enforced… keep in mind that there will be selfish and brutish people here.
There will also be “families” there that do the one person line up in queue… and then their whole family show up once it’s their turn… only for the whole line behind them to complain and groan… but that one stupid family that does this won’t care …
Not too sure if it’s a good kid spot… family wise it’s ok… just note that it could get tiring for the little ones so be prepared for some whining and crying … so bring a stroller ;) saw people taking pictures with their kids… keep it short is my advice.
Parking is ok… there were some people who thought it was free and got accosted by the staff there to pay like everyone else… super embarrassing for the perpetrator for sure. That man will chase you down to the ends of the earth. :)
What a great place for the community to get pictures of beautiful scenery… and a great utilization of farm space in general: that’s going to be a lot of sun flower seeds and oil once harvested!
It’s 28.25 including tax to get in to see the sunflowers though so I guess it’s worth it IF you go all the way inside the farm to see the bigger, taller sunflowers! At least spend a good 1-2 hours there to make the money worth it.
Please note the following… carry enough water with you in a backpack for your entire party, wear plenty of sunscreen, avoid dehydration! There are no drinks available for sale!
Go during the evening if you can! Avoid the sun, respect the bees! What a great effort to let the pollinators do some work while...
Read moreIt's a beautiful field. The sunflowers aren't the gigantual ones like 9 ft high which I wish they had. The biggest ones are about 6 ft with lots of other smaller ones.
Although it's not a huge field. It's a big enough field because it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to walk through and really you're going to take a lot of photos, especially if you're with the wife or the girlfriend. We were there just under 2 hours casually walking and taking lots of photos.
There are various places throughout where you can grab a seat here and there. There are no places to purchase things, although I think it maybe be a good idea for them just to have a little shaded area to sell water or canned drinks at the entrance/ exit for people who didn't bring them. I don't really think you need a food truck or anything like that. It would just ruin the area.
The paths were mostly overlaid with hay which made walking easier and not muddy. Just make sure you don't come after a rainy day.
We came on a sunny day had about 25° and it was great. Bring a little backpack with water or a water bottle. Make sure you have a hat and some sunscreen. I personally had sandals and it was fine.
The price is the price. I think it's fairly priced. There's family discounts if you bring your teens like I did.
All in all, it's a nice , quiet, peaceful place to take the family or the girlfriend or a date. Just make sure you're properly dressed and have water. We came on a weekday at about 1:30 p.m. and it wasn't crowded at all as everybody arrived at different times.
There is a porta potty at the exit area before you actually go into the field in case you need to use it but there are none inside.
I enjoyed my time. I'll probably be back the next year or if I want to take somebody to a calm and peaceful place with...
Read moreSuch a beautiful place to go for an afternoon stroll. I went on a Friday afternoon after a rain storm earlier in the day. Luckily the sun was back out which makes the sunflower field look spectacular. All the flowers are in full bloom now.
The field is much bigger than I initially thought. The view from the lookout platform at the front is stunning, but as you walk in, you begin to realize that the field keeps going and going. The walking path is just over 1km from the front to back. The path is heavily padded with straw to make it easy for walking. But if there was rain recently, I recommend going in boots or shoes that you don't mind getting dirty because it was quite soggy in some places.
Bring water. Use sunscreen because there are no shaded areas. There are a few spots with picnic tables and benches for you to rest and enjoy the view. There are some wooden swings and old tractors for photo ops. There are several elevated lookout platforms for great wide-angle photos. There are also small bales of hay along the path so you can get a slightly elevated view for photos above the flowers.
Pro tip: fully mature sunflowers face east, so late afternoon/evening visits mean many of your photos will be backlit/darker with the sun in the background. Go earlier in the...
