DO NOT RENT EQUIPMENT HERE
I have never written a review before in my life, but my experience at Glen Eden was so terrible that I felt I had to. If I can save even one personās Saturday from being completely wasted like mine was, then writing this will have been worth it.
The problems started before I even got near the hills. Parking was a nightmareāour choices were either a 10+ minute walk through the cold or waiting 20+ minutes for a tractor-pulled cart. We opted for the tractor, figuring it would save us time. We were wrong.
Once inside, I was met with an absolute disaster. I waited in the rental line for 2.5 HOURS. No employees were managing it, there were no signs, and people kept having to requeue when they realized they were in the wrong spot. Eventually, an employee came out and, rather than helping, scolded people for ānot managing the line better.ā Excuse me?? Isnāt that YOUR job??
To make matters worse, the line was in slush, snow, and standing water. I had worn mediocre footwear since I assumed Iād only be waiting 20 minutes and would be switching into snowboard or ski boots quickly. Instead, I stood there for hours, my feet getting soaked and freezing. And when I finally got to the front? I was told that even though I reserved a snowboard, only skis or a refund were available. Seriously?
After 2.5 hours, I was then told I had to wait in another line to pick up my actual equipment. At that point, with another estimated 20+ minutes to go and already having wasted three hours, I decided to just get my refund and leave. At least that was fastāprobably because they process so many, given how horrendous their rental system is.
While inside, I overheard at least two mix-ups with peopleās bookings, with most blaming the website. I honestly felt bad for the customer service reps; it was clear they were just trying to manage an impossible system created by owners who only care about profit and not their customers or employees.
This profit-over-people mindset was even more obvious on the hills. My friends actually made it out there, and they said the lifts were completely overbooked. Long lines, people cutting in with no regulationāit was clear that Glen Eden was way over capacity, but that doesnāt matter to the owners because more people = more money.
And to top it all off, when I went to say goodbye to my friends before leaving, the only path to see them was completely submerged in water. I had to climb a snowbank to get through, and of course, the snow gave out under me. I twisted my knee. Perfect end to the worst experience ever.
If youāre thinking about renting equipment at Glen Eden on the weekend and have literally any other option, take it. I wouldnāt wish this experience on anyone. Good luck to those who still goāI sincerely hope your day turns out...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was my first time going here and was very excited to go however yesterday (February 20,2025) at around 1:30pm, there was a young lady in the West Lodge who ruined my experience from the beginning. She was helping me purchase two tickets for the beginner side.. not only was she not approachable - she seemed like she did not want to be there.. anyway, she said āits womenās day so I donāt know if you can go thereā and I said āI am a womanā and she said āi know but I donāt know if the second person is a woman or not.ā My thought process was, she should have stated that in the beginning, because now it seemed like she was thinking I was a man.. lol anyway, so she basically told us we couldnt go there because itās womens day and I was with my husband.. so we made our way to the āLearning Centre- Little Dipperā and I see two intructors and asked some questions and had small talk, and they basically said, āno.. you can go down the slopes and the only thing closed for āwomenās dayā was the lodge and that is only up until 2pm and at this point it was already 1:55pm⦠i was sooo annoyed because my husband and I are walking back and forth with full gear and carrying our snowboards.. So we end up going back to West Lodge and I confronted the young lady and basically said to her that she told me wrong information.. and sheās like ā⦠yeah I just googled it and found out nowā, she did NOT apologize and basicslly gave me a face like āso what do you want me to do about itā. And i said to her āim only telling you so you dont say the wrong thing to other people again and make them walk back and forth like we did. I then asked, how to get to the beginner slope and she basically made it seem like Iām stupid because she said you just go up the stairs. And in my head, Iām like OK and then? For me, I just wished she was more informative and helpful but all she did was give me attitude and was not helpful at all. So please make sure your staff is more friendly and helpful. It would make a big difference for someone coming for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWashrooms are so grungy Hills are good Except I fell off my skis mid hill.. took me almost 25 min to get down the rest of the hill no help nearly impossible to get back on my skis. My friends went up the lift 2 times n tried to help me but I had to butt jump all the way down, where were the medical assistants? I saw them helping others every time I was going down..
also The ski lift, entrance where you have to scan your ticket is bullshit I paid for a day pass and the scanner kept telling me I was āusing it too muchā a lot of other people where upset with it too it really held up the line and killed the vibe a little
Also Maybe have some healthier options for lunch. Burgers, fries and poutines arenāt on athletes menus. Learn to facilitate to your audience better. Iām fit and thereās no way Iām smashing a burger n fries Iām sure yāall can afford to revamp your menu. You make enough Truly disgusting and grossed out. Maybe train your employees to actually smile and not be rude or uninviting. Or hire me to train them! I own my own business and all my employees are always smiling and I donāt teach that, maybe yall needa take care of your employees better? Agreed guys?
Also When I rented my gear all the kids were taking about some weird stuff behind the counter, not even considering the client on the other side. The girl didnāt give me my skii sticks. I had to call the manager on duty to bring them to me at the west lodge b.c there was no way I was walking back to get them in my skii shoes. And even then she kinda had an attitude bout it - when she handed them off to me, I felt like she was pretty upset. Again, no smiles.
Cross your tās dot your iās Obv Iāll return but bc itās close and convenient it isnāt my first...
